No thanks from the Leafs.. Not high on Dumba and Pominville is nothing more than a cap-dump nowadays.

At least it makes sense in terms of needs for both teams.

But MIN is most definitely losing a Dman to expansion draft unless they trade one (or two) for draft protected players.

They're at a disadvantage in trading a defender and IMO Pominville is a cap-dump at this point, so dealing JVR -and- Bracco for that package doesn't seem to make sense value-wise.

IMO a better package would be Dumba for Kucherov since the Lightning are in the same boat with forward prospects.

Leafs fans only think they have a pressing concern for d-depth.

Have confidence in Zaitsev and Marincin. With those two rounding out the top 4 with Gardiner and Rielly, we get to watch Polak, Hunwick, Corrado, Carrick, and the rest duke it out for the past two spots.

Add in the stability from Andersen and (Enroth?) and we're golden.

And actually I wouldn't discount adding Russell either.

Wild fans have made it abundantly clear they don't want JVR or Kadri as a return for any of their defencemen. Whether you agree or disagree, the answer is always the same and this is coming from a Leafs fan.

Wouldn't really wanna give up one of those two for Dumba anyway. :dunno:

To Toronto:
Matt Dumba
Jason Pominville

To Minnesota:
James van Riemdsyk
Jeremy Bracco

Can't speak for Wild fans, only myself but:

Matt Dumba (I'd rather see what we have in Connor Carrick. He's the same age, we just acquired him from Washington, RHD, give him the chance). I would say no at this time.

Jason Pominville (Leafs have a host of young wingers plus high salary vets we need to find places for). I would say no.

The Wild roster is pretty well set at this point. They come out ahead on value here, but unless they think JVR is going to push them over the top there's no way they move Dumba. LW just isn't enough of a need at this point with Coyle and Granlund finally getting moved to the outside. It's going to be a lot easier keeping Dumba for the next 6-7 years than JVR after the next 2 as well.

This is so bad from the Wild's perspective.

I try to dump Pominville in every Wild trade proposal, and, yet, even I will have to admit Pominville has more worth to the Wild, as a right-shot, RW, than JVR, who is a completely unneeded LW to squeeze in with Parise, Granlund, Nino, and Zucker.

And that's ignoring putting Dumba in this deal.

About the first part. No it doesn't help the Wild at all. even if it is generally regarded JVR is the best player in the trade, he is still a player we don't need.

As far as the second part. Whether we trade one of our young Dmen, we will still be at risk of losing one anyway. At least based on the general consensus of what the expansion protection list will look like. Unless we get lucky and LV grabs Staal or Zucker.

^^ This. Any trade between the two teams would likely be a minor transaction. As what the Wild want, Toronto does not want to give up.

No way I would trade JVR for Dunba
MIN tried to trade Dumba to edm for RNH and Chia wouldn't go for it as Dumba will never be a top 3

Why is leafs making this trade? Zaitsev was the number 1 D in one of the big 4 KHL teams.

He ll be your top RHD easily next year...
