Very happy they're keeping him around. I've always thought he's looked great with the big club when given a chance. Plays with a lot of energy and is perfect on one of the bottom lines.

Sorry to say that but your local media is doing it. Pretty sure you know that. Very few players can handle that pressure.

Fear of the Steve Simmons Hotdog articles.

This is a great deal. If he plays the whole season I think he's a lock for 15 goals.

Leivo has very underrated board skills. Very good at working the puck down low, mix in a very nice shot.

Great signing. Glad we were able to hold on to this late bloomer.

Wonder if the fact that he's on a 1-way deal protects him if he ends up on waivers.

Nice, I like Josh. He'll be good for 10-15 goals 25-30 points on a 3rd line, less if he's on the 4th line but he really doesn't seem like he's suited to that role.
4 years of development invested in Leivo and he's now ready. He's a good example for any impatient prospects that soldiering on and paying your dues is worthwhile.

Is Leivo capable of scoring 20 goals a year in the National Hockey League?

There is no doubt in my mind that hes capable of scoring 20 goals. He has an excellent shot, goes to the net hard. He will be a regular NHLer. May not be with the leafs though. He would be a perfect fit on a team like Chicago or LA.

Leivo is also a beast on the boards, he doesn't lose board battles really, great stick for stripping pucks off guys.

Sure if they put him in a top 6 role but I don't expect it. There are faster, higher skilled options to fill those 4 spots.

Top 6 is becoming a thing of the past. Going forward Leafs top 3 centres should be Matthews, Nylander and Kadri.

So no one will be able to score goals on a "3rd" line centered by Kadri or Nylander?

Poor man's Mark Stone, if he hits his ceiling, which would fit perfectly on a good "3rd" line.

Yeah that's what I said, right?

Doubtful. He will play fourth line and try to battle for third line

I don't think that was his question IMO.

I agree though, in those roles, which he will be in next year if he makes the roster, he won't be scoring 20.

They're related. Even wash ups can score twenty goals in top six minutes. Leivo will not get enough minutes to score twenty goals with his skill set
