Yes, signing Pacioretty to a low risk, low to medium reward contract at a very low cap hit sure is going to result in the Leafs falling back into a rebuild.

The Leafs have signed old guys to low cap hit 1-2 year deals for years now, and they aren't rebuilding. Signing Pacioretty isn't going to kick them into a rebuild, but whatever helps you feel better I suppose.

Like if the guy is washed...he doesn't get a contract and at worst he gets a contract that can be buried in the minors.
