Looks like there wasn't much interest in him around the league for some reason. He's a decent young player.

A little surprised a team didn't OS him a la Dylan Holloway. A third rounder isn't much

If he can stay healthy he’ll score 20+

The Leafs have a nice gap in the top 6 on the left side and he has all the talent.

Excited to see what he can do this year. He needs to stay healthy.

Had zero leverage so this is a predictable outcome . As others have noted Toronto isn’t exactly strong on the left side nor do they have many dangerous options for pp 2 . Play well and get your bag . Or not and risk becoming a tweener if injuries continues to persist.

He had more PP time per game last year than Berggren. Year before it was opposite, there isn’t a big difference in PP time.

If Robertson had been dealt all the usual suspects would be in here saying Robertson is a massive loss instead of he is no good like in this thread.

Now that he signed, Leaf Nation considers Robertson to be a terrific younger player who was cursed with injury trouble and lack of opportunity.

As opposed to a greedy, entitled youngster who tried to put the screws to the Leafs despite any kind of sustained record of stellar play to draw upon.

We'll see which one he is by this time next year.
Or you know, a young player with some promise but perhaps received some questionable advice and let his frustrations (some of which were justified) get the better of him, and has had a bumpy few years as he's dealt with various injuries and setbacks. Hopefully he can stay healthy and earn a spot and opportunity under Berube.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how I'm the one who didn't know Robertson's deployment, when you claimed 30 minutes later that he was averaging 8 minutes a night and got no PP time, both of which are not even remotely close to the truth.

But much like his skating, he fell down.
This is literally his biggest problem other than injuries . Guy falls down twice per shift it seems . I’m not sure if it’s balance or strength but it’s very noticeable imo . His shot is by far his best tool but gotta be upright and on the ice to implement it .

I like the deal. Hopefully he'll be healthy and score at least 20 goals this year. With Bertuzzi gone, he should receive regular top six minutes if he's productive.

Not sure if this helps him get dealt, or he realized he isn't worth that much

Bit of both, really. Nobody was going to off sheet him and Toronto was never trading him for a 3rd or 4th. So it was either sign a cheap deal with the Leafs and prove you're worth something or throw away a full season of your career.

Odds are if he plays well, Toronto will deal him at the deadline or next off season.

Surprised he didn't get more $$ considering he's coming off a good year despite limited ice time and role.

Limited ice time and role, you said it. If he wants to make more, he needs to go out there and earn it. If you play well, the coach will trust you. Coaches don’t bench players for no reason. They want to win. And they play whoever gives them the best chance of that.
