No shock. Even with the trade request, Robertson had no choice but to sign if he wanted to play this year.
But much like his skating, he fell down.He tried standing his ground and wanted to be traded but in the end signed a deal like this.. not a surprise nobody acquired him and not a surprise he signed for this amount… pretty much exactly what most people assume would happen with him
Fair contract for both sides
As opposed to sitting out? Yes it does. Leafs didin't get an offer they liked so they were perfectly fine to stand their ground, knowing that Robertson would eventually relent. Not sure if this helps him get dealt
Bruh asked for a trade July 1st when all the pre-planning rosters was done.Really odd "strategy" from Nick Robertson's team IMO. You have absolutely ZERO leverage and minimal market value, so you demand a trade only to end up signing a one year deal for essentially the league minimum. For his sake - hope he can improve his total game and earn additional icetime and responsibility.
Guy was on pace for 20 goals (14 in 56) and get's 100K more than minimum. The salary cap sucks sometimes. He should easily be making 1.5M-2M
His finest moment IMO as a leaf thus far.
Ah yes, the one more goal in 11 more games, great example. It was in 22-23 when Berggren scored more than Robertson's career high. But you keep digging that hole, boo.
Robertson has value of another club’s similar player (all teams have these guys) or a late round draft pick. The player learned he has very low, if any, trade value. That's not necessarily fair. I think the Leafs and Treliving were asking for a pretty high price, because they need Robertson and they knew he would eventually give in (which he did).
