Uhhh ok

good luck to denis, it would be comedic if he went and put up 50 points with Colorado
Lol that would actually be so funny. Somehow both Marchment and Malgin become good players and we got to keep neither  Sakic is also good at finding value in reclamation projects...Nichushkin, Burakovsky, Graves etc are good examples.

That being said, I think Malgin will top out as a Euro league star, he lacks that extra gear to actually finish chances. There is a possibility that maybe he becomes like Barabanov but I don't see it yet.

I know it's a minor deal but.. I don't like it

Malgin is often unimpressive but he brought a skillset to the bottom 6 that was missing without Spezza. The 4th line looked excellent earlier in the year with Malgin on it, and I think a puck carrying bottom 6 role is one he can excel at. Not a top 6 role.

Kind of disappointed. We have a lot of what Hunt brings.

i think its likely given dubas history that hes trading malgin so he can play because he doesnt intend on playing him here. time for a marlie to get a shot until we trade for a real top 6 winger.

dude had 4 points in 23 games and got more opportunity than everyone not named kerfoot(another issue imo) in the top 6. time to move on and try something else.

Then they should have just kept the depth forward who brings an element the bottom 6 needs, not the one that is completely superfluous

Jarnkrok is going to be healthy soon and I think they want to keep Anderson over Malgin.

So Hunt is more likely to clear waivers and Malgin gets a fresh start. He wasn't playing much and was probably going to hit the pine soon. He didn't impress in his top 6 role.

They probably would have had to waive Malgin eventually once bodies start returning to the lineup. He would have easily been claimed.

This way we get someone that plays hard and can be brought up and down through waivers without really having to worry about him getting claimed.

our entire bottom 6 is already comprised of low event players who can't score
Yeah, would be nice if we could get away from this. We've already seen a better impact with Joey Anderson getting a look there, I'd prefer to either give Steeves a chance now as well or acquire someone more legitimate.

Hunt was cleared from waivers and Malgin wasn’t. Jarnkrok came back so Toronto had to send someone down. Instead of losing Malgin to waivers they traded him

We just have to get that "low event" down to "absolute zero event" and stick them to the opponent's top 6. What's McDavid going to do if Hunt ate the puck?

Malgin obviously wasn't suited for our top 6 so it looks like we got a dude we thought was suited for the 4th line

Fineish I guess

Yeah we already knows how this story ends, our bottom 6 gives little to no production come playoff time

Eventually you need your depth pieces to score. Malgin wasn't great, but I thought he brought an element we lacked down there. Hopefully Dubas realizes this and looks to add as we get closer to the TDL
