Confirmed with Link: [TOR/CBJ] TOR acquire Riley Nash for Conditional. 7th Pick in 2022

Could be likely yes, but why wouldn’t they do it all at once? I’m thinking Nash is our defensive forward and we make a trade for hall as well

The trades need to be completed consecutively, not concurrently, as we can't use LTIR space we haven't obtained yet.

Trade for Nash today and LTIR him, then use that space for Foligno. We can't afford to take 5.5 all at once.

This is really confusing but I assume he's someone they like for playoff depth to replace Boyd.

But uh... this is still weird.

It's a bit out of the box, but in a normal world a healthy Riley Nash would be a decent and reliable 4th line center who could take a draw and give you decent depth minutes. Also a good size center to take a playoff beating. Was pretty decent in the Boston and Columbus matchups against us.

You think it's a Foligno cap saving move?

I have been one of the biggest critics of Dubas. I think I probably need to eat my words. Getting Brodie, Simmonds and Thornton in the off season, and now Nash plus whoever else is coming, great job Dubas!

Brodie and Bogo were his best moves IMO. In hindsight should have moved Andy and probably signed Perry instead of Vesey and/or Boyd. What he does next is what I am anxiously waiting to see.

By LTIRing Andersen today, we could have afforded all 5.5 at once, especially considering there would need to be am additional roster player going the other way for Foligno, assuming we need to leave space to active Andersen before the end of the regular season.

I doubt Dubas put in all this work to clear up room to take Foligno at his full cap hit. That would be a pretty big miss

It might not be our only move. I assume there were other LTIR players we could've acquired from one of 29 other teams, but Dubas chose to acquire the one on Columbus who is owed exactly 50% of Foligno. Too much smoke for there not to be fire IMO.

The main board thread is a cesspool of moronic proportions.
I've tried to explain in the most summed down version and people are still arguing that the leafs dont receive the cap relief. I explained that they had to fit him under the cap than they placed him on ltir and we get space. Once healthy in the playoffs we can play nash since the cap doesn't matter.

But of course people just chirp saying we didnt get rick nash
