He should be getting 1 year dealsWhen I see 3 x 7 for JT my first reaction is I don't like it. Sticking with the first reaction.

He's not leaving. The Leafs will give him mostly what he wants.Just listening to Chris Johnson and he mentions that he that Marner isn't looking to be the highest paid player and has no interest in leaving.

Johnston on likelihood of Marner extension prior to June 30th - Video - TSN
Bryan Hayes, Jeff O’Neill and Jamie McLennan are joined by TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston to discuss the latest on the Mitch Marner and Toronto Maple Leafs contract negotiations, could a Mikko Rantanen extension play a role in Marner’s new deal and what Marner’s priority.www.tsn.ca
It's not all about JT. Marner & Knies will eat up most of the $7M cap increase. If JT signs for $7M, that saves $4M over what he is paid now. But whatcan you get for $4M ? Now,if JT signs for $5M, I think Toronto can get a much better player with the extra $6M than with only $4M to spend. So who will be a better fit at 7 million?
Here's hoping the Leafs tell him to take his expected Selkes, Molson Cups, one goal against Skinner and 2 ENG in the last 20 games and GTFO instead. That is a 4 goal pace against garbage goalies. He's not leaving. The Leafs will give him mostly what he wants.
$4m does not even cover the raises to Woll and McCabe. It's not all about JT. Marner & Knies will eat up most of the $7M cap increase. If JT signs for $7M, that saves $4M over what he is paid now. As much chance of getting JT for 5 as extending Mitch for 9It's not all about JT. Marner & Knies will eat up most of the $7M cap increase. There is zero chance Marner makes less percentage than Nylander never mind dollars , it's just not reality. As much chance of getting JT for 5 as extending Mitch for 9
Jt 7, Mitch 11, knies 6 is the way it should go.
40, 40, 40 goal seasons, goals greater than assistsThere is zero chance Marner makes less percentage than Nylander never mind dollars , it's just not reality.
The real world looks at everything a player brings, not one stat.40, 40, 40 goal seasons, goals greater than assists
lol! Lucky for you guys I’m not the GM because that’s all I would offer. I value both equally but I’m playing hardball with Mitch and expecting a discount. The real world looks at everything a player brings, not one stat.
Has nothing to do with me, I just like to keep it real.lol! Lucky for you guys I’m not the GM because that’s all I would offer. I value both equally but I’m playing hardball with Mitch and expecting a discount.
I like him to stay but at a good price. If he wants MacKinnon money no thanks and thanks for the memories. How we do in the playoffs has little effect on my decision because it’s a team thing and I can’t blame or praise a single player for the success or failure. It’s all about the value. If we get good value from everyone we will do just fine. Overpay and we will never win. I think there may be resentment in the dressing room. Players making 5 to 10 times less is not a good thingHas nothing to do with me, I just like to keep it real.
I wish Dubas would have taken Marners initial offer of 8.5 * 8, 6 years ago and none of this silliness we've seen this season would have taken place.
The worse case scenario is Marner is the best Leaf in the Playoffs and they lose in the first round. Then what happens?
Both Woll and McCabe extensions already ate into JT’s saving. It's not all about JT. Marner & Knies will eat up most of the $7M cap increase. Great question.Has nothing to do with me, I just like to keep it real.

If Mackinnon was becoming UFA this season he wouldn't be getting Mackinnon money, same with Draisaitl, McDavid, Matthews.I like him to stay but at a good price. If he wants MacKinnon money no thanks and thanks for the memories. There seems to be an underlying thought among some that if you don't want Marner gone, you don't want change. That's pretty simple minded, IMO.Great question.
To me, even AM is not safe if there is another first round exit or a second round exit like two yrs ago.
I know AM, Willie and Reilly got NTC/NMC but that’s the conversation needs to happen and players get traded with them all the time.
