It's not all about JT. Marner & Knies will eat up most of the $7M cap increase. If JT signs for $7M, that saves $4M over what he is paid now. But whatcan you get for $4M ? Now,if JT signs for $5M, I think Toronto can get a much better player with the extra $6M than with only $4M to spend.

Here's hoping the Leafs tell him to take his expected Selkes, Molson Cups, one goal against Skinner and 2 ENG in the last 20 games and GTFO instead. That is a 4 goal pace against garbage goalies.
