Oh, I dunno...claim that our captain is killing this team, maybe?

That can't happen because, technically, we don't have a captain under contract....:D

I did not submit or even create a list, but rest assured, I'm harshly judging each of you and your lists.

Suzuki will be a great fit with Andrei Svechnikov.
Both played with Barrie in the OHL.
Ryan Suzuki: Scouting Report

A supreme playmaker, he has everything needed to rack up huge assists totals: great hockey sense, deft passing ability and an excellent skating stride. Makes his teammates around him better players. Is able to slow the game down to his desired pace. Is also a very smart and astute player when he does not have the puck. Also displays a good shot, though he needs to use it a lot more in order to keep defenders more honest (since they always expect him to pass the puck). Also needs to get stronger in order to maximize output in the pros.

Now that I have seen that my picks have done decently well I can share my list:
1. Necas
2. Bean
3. Ned
4. Kuokkanen
5. Suzuki
6. Mattheos
7. Gauthier
8. Sellgren
9. Kochetkov
10. Luostarinen
11. Geekie
12. Rees
13. Honka
14. Puistola
15. McKeown
HM Martin
HM Tieksola

It looks like I got 8 out of top 9 and pretty much everybody from top 15.

In my ranking Geekie barely missed the top 10 as I knew he is quite NHL ready but wasn't sure if he has top or middle six potential. Can someone share his views on him as I'm more knowledgeable about the Finns in AHL and FEL and the blue chippers.

Is Geekie tracking to be similar to Wallmark (defensively responsible bottom/middle sixer) or does he have more upside?

Top prospect AHL Rookies (all from 2017 Draft) which played in the Calder Cup finals:

Cody Glass (6th Overall): 22GP - 7G - 8A - 15P
Martin Necas (12th Overall): 18GP - 5G - 8A - 13P
Morgan Geekie (67th *Overager): 19GP - 8G - 10A - 18P

I think Geekie is a better fit stylistically for the Canes than Wallmark. From my limited view he plays a grittier game, is more likely to go to dangerous areas of the ice and be effective (6'2" vs 6' Wallmark), and has a better shot. Being a right handed center could give him an extra edge to make the roster in coming years.

It’s fun to have a new, shiny, 1st round pick, playmaking center and not really give a **** whether or not he develops into anything. Weird luxury.

Related: it's nice to end up with the #28 pick and already understand several weeks before the draft that we'll likely get a B-level prospect at that position, all because we actually won some playoff games.

I guess it's all how you define "B". I think of B-level as guys from NHL/AHL tweener - bottom 6. From what I've seen, his "projection" is a 2nd line playmaking center. Suzuki appears to be a skilled, smart player with great hands and vision. No clue if he'll ever achieve his potential though, but that's the case with most guys drafted after #5 really.
