Hey Guys,

While I think Brouwer was a great pickup and fits in well on the team, I don't know that I would consider him a top line winger. It would be great to see a skilled winger playing on the Johnny/Monahan line. I'm not really sure that Calgary has the pieces to acquire one at the moment, but I thought it could be interesting to open up discussion on the topic. Do you think Calgary needs another winger in the lineup, or can they work with what they have? Who are some players you think would fit in well on that line?

note: this thread isn't to say that Calgary's main problem is their offense, or that a top line winger would immediately solve their problems, but rather just to get some discussion going on the point of a top line winger that would fit on the team.

Isn't this why Versteeg signed with the Flames?

Calgary doesn't need a top line RW. They just need to stay out of the box, keep Wideman and Grossmann off the ice and get decent goaltending and they should be fine.

They're producing well enough as is. No need to use assets at this point.

He hasn't exactly looked fantastic out there, and again he's not really someone I would consider a top line winger. It's early and he might mesh well on that line eventually, but he's not really a long-term solution.

Benning is in the spirit of winning now and will trade a better RW prospect for an NHL ready player of yours. So how about Boeser for Ferland??? Benning = GM OF THE DECADE

I'd do that.

Excellent. I'll send over the papers.
No thanks. Just creates a hole on defense.

I see no reason to rush bringing in a #1 RW. Calgary is still a rebuilding team.
Marchenko replaces Hamilton adequately for the time being. Both Kylington and Andersson are year or two away at the furthest and can do what Hamilton does but at a 1/5 the price. Flames add a natural goal scorer that could put up 30+ on the top line. Jurco adds some depth and pushes Versteeg off the roster.

Just to add, Jurco is injured till around December.

Yeah...not thinking that would work for Calgary. Soft old wingers aren't very enticing.

hes got speed and some skill just not physical enough for suter Remember we are a team that leads the league in hits most years. I think if he played with a quick young center like you have they would mess. Lets be honest here it would only cost a backup goalie I think that would be worth the risk
