One of the top 15 defenseman in the NHL (according to this thread) is being scratched tonight and it seems right. (Justin Barron)

So maybe we are all collectively clueless, or maybe this advanced stats means shit?
Honestly, I don't know anything about Justin Barron, so I won't draw any conclusions on that, but it's more likely that we're all collectively clueless.

Is this raw or GSVA adjusted? Game score adjusting affects expected goals more than most other stats, teams up two or more goals have significantly higher chances for GF and GA due to the opponent needing to take risks to catch back up.

It shows how useless this stat is that JBD is the 2nd best. He's been very good for Ottawa, but he's a bottom pairing dman, Sanderson, Chabot, and Jensen have all been far better so far, which is to be expected.

You know what, you’re right. I withdraw all prior criticism of this metric, which I suddenly realize is very accurate at determining who plays the best hockey.

It's funny, you continue to show you don't actually understand this metric.

This chart you posted isn't the same metric from OP's post.

I think you mean score adjusted? Based on the outputs, I think OP did not choose a score-adjusted filter.

Hellebuyuck gonna hellebuyuck, at least in the regular season.

But their PP likely comes down (although unrelated to this chart)

This chart shows they're middling offensively but have #1 offense in the league I believe. The Rangers are awful defensively but are #1 in goals against. But I trust Igor to embellish our defensive capabilities than a Jets roster without many true superstars to embellish their offensive capabilities long term.

Their 5v5 offense should come down a decent amount, but it's not ridiculously overperforming to the extent of say vegas so far.

That PP however is likely to be cut in half or so (about 18 goals/60 there on 8 expected), from the ridiculous 44% it's at rn.

Igor Shesterkin is in playoff form early this year, like what the f*** is this. Free him

He is so ridiculously good.

Thankfully the team in front of him has let him down so tremendously in the playoffs I can still use this to troll him for the forseeable futureView attachment 926635

To be fair fans of teams that never won the Stanley Cup on this board have the same take. I actually think for a professional athlete it's a more appropriate mindset. Other than generating wealth for your family that should be the #1 goal. But as fans we should be able to see context. Rangers weren't deserving of it last year but they were still the Presidents' Trophy winners and in the final 4. If you're only happy as a fan when you win you'll be miserable most of your life.

If you drive yourself insane enough you can make a career out of going insane every time any one of your favourite teams loses (they play a combined 350 times a year +postseasons)
