No arguments to even back up his claims :laugh:

McCarron has never put up amazing/enticing points - maybe 1 year with London.

JVR is a proven 60 pt producer 30/30 type power forward. Legit first liner. Buddy, Beregevin would be all over Mccarron++ for JVR.

When did he become a power forward, exactly? We'll gladly keep McCarron (like we kept our 1st to draft Sergy).

Lol...you talk like it's outlandish. In YOUR OWN teams poll, Maccarron was the #2 forward behind Scherbak. And in that poll, Scherback won by having 38% of the votes. McCarron had 30%.

So your own fanbase was close to evenly split on who is better.

So don't make it seem far fetched.

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=133151

So... McCarron isn't our best forward prospect. Thanks for playing?

This is getting pointless.

Not getting a top 6 forward for anything listed.
Everyone has those types of offered players in their system.

My apologies, JVR the perimeter player who only sets up and doesn't drive the net ever. Small as hell too

You guys will never get a JVR/Landeskog-esque top 6er without giving up at least Mccarron or Sergachev.

Please tell me this is not a serious post? Bergevin would include his first born child with the deal if he was offered JVR straight up for McCarron!

Oh, it was a very serious post. You're kidding yourself if you think JVR could get you McCarron.

Uhh I'd easily to McCarron straight up for JVR...

In all likelihood, it'd be McCarron + for JVR.

A big goal-scoring winger in his prime, sign me up.

Looking at his numbers since he arrived in Toronto, he's played 80 and 82 games in 2013-14 and 2014-15, respectively, and scored 30 and 27 goals respectively in those seasons. 18 goals in 48 games in 2012-13 pro-rates to 31 in 82 games, and 14 in 40 games prior to injury this season pro-rates to 29 in 82.

He's good for 25-30 goals each season, as he's proved it in the last 4 years, and did I mention he's right in the middle of his prime. That kind of production can be expected for at least the next 4-5 seasons. You're telling me that you wouldn't trade McCarron straight up for JVR. I understand McCarron is one of our best prospects, but we're trying to win the cup now while Price, Pacioretty, and Weber are playing at their best. Our chance to win the cup with this core is the next 3 seasons, and adding JVR would be a huge boost to that goal.

Again, if we got JVR, we could ice a line-up like this:

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Radulov
JVR - Plekanec - Gallagher
Carr - Desharnais - Shaw
Andrighetto - Danault - Byron

Beaulieu - Weber
Markov - Petry
Emelin - Pateryn

Price - Montoya

Cap would have to be figured out, maybe Bergevin will finally ditch DD. Shaw can play 3C, Andrighetto can move up to 3RW, and one of our numerous 4th liners can play 4LW.

That's a cup caliber offense.

Can someone explain the McCarron love to me? I haven't seen a lot of him but he seems like a b prospect on paper. Is there more than meets the eye?

Taking roster players and untouchables into account, i can't see anyone other than Evandor Kane being available. Unless of course, your first is available.

I think its mostly because he is a big bodied prospect with top 6 upside. Montreal doesn't have much size, especially size with skill. On other teams he probably isn't considered an untouchable, but as the Habs need to get bigger, the fans have fallen in love with McCarron's frame.

Didn't i write PICKS and prospects in the title?? Of course our 1st picks are available since Bergevin seems to go all in.

I was just clarifying some thoughts on some of Habs prospects. Juulsen and Scherbak are pretty good prospects. They are not untouchables but are not nhl ready.

So what i'd consider good pieces :

2017, 2018 1st picks
2017, 2018, 2nds
Juulsen
Scherbak
Fucale
Andrighetto
Carr
Hudon
Lehkonen
De La Rose

Hi, I want a quality player for my team. In return, I offer quantity. Don't all call at once other GMs

Oh, it was a very serious post. You're kidding yourself if you think JVR could get you McCarron.

You are greatly over valuing McCarron. He is an average prospect at best. He's not mobile because of his huge size, and shows great inconsistency in his play. McCarron's ceiling to me is a Brian Boyle type of player, because he can play centre or the wing, and could be groomed to be a PK specialist or something. So if Bergevin went after JVR and McCarron was part of the returning deal, the Habs actually add if they want JVR. He is a 55-60 point a season NHLer, with a 30 goal season under his belt on a weak team. McCarron does not have the upside to get a deal done. The Leafs already have a prospect similar to McCarron (although a little less offensive) in Freddy Gauthier. And Gauthier barely cracks the Leafs top 10 prospects.

He was hyped big time by Habs fans....then had a 34 point season in the OHL.
Some called him a bust.
Then he was moved to C, and had 41 pts in 25 games for London.....hype thru the roof.
Then traded and was under a PPG
Then started great in the AHL....20 pts in 20 games...hype thru the roof last year. Like I am talking "would not trade for Simmonds" hype.
Then had 18 pts in 38 pts in AHL and 2 pts in 20 games in NHL....Fell back to earth.

Reality is, he is not as good as his highs, and not as bad as his lows. With his size of 6'6, he is an intriguing prospect. I understand why Habs fans would want to keep him. It's been SO long since they had a big dominant C. Of course they will try and keep him because they have no one like him in their pipeline.

And really, they are torn between going for it now with Price, Weber and MaxP in their prime, and hoping he develops into his upside. The fear or trading him and him being a dominant C is real. It's also why other teams would push for him if trading away legit, top 6 talent to Montreal.

I would target him over Sherback if I was dealing with them, because I believe his upside is more.

Just a stab in the dark, but I'd say it's his size. 238 lbs. @ 6'5" at only 21 years old is :amazed: but still JvR should still fetch him twice.

Still don't understand how McCarron is an 'untouchable'. Scherbak has top 6 potential ceiling written all over him. He will probably take a huge step forward this year too.

Overhyping the wrong prospects imo
