Miller or Boeser (usually RW) may be available. Looking for a high quality RD or C prospect to form a deal around

If Mantha is out for the remainder of the regular season, the Caps could use a rental.
They will have around $5M to work with.
Depending on how much they want to spend, and how things shake out... Ilya Mikheyev?

Young, cheap, fast as heck and can play a solid 2 way game.
Has shown some flashes of playing well with skilled players, and a few Russian legends may help him take the next step.

Thanks for the feedback.

The Capitals need to manager the last 4 years of Ovechkin's contract. They can't just go for broke this season. They are in 1st place now and should they remain similar thru the rest of the season they arent going to be forced to change their plan. Do do trade their 2nd round pick and's they do have 3 or 4 bottom 6 nhl ready forwards.

So, the question is who is available at that price? the next q is will it be a buyer's or seller's market?

Could see Claude Giroux being a fit. Think he also plays both wings as well as centre.

Depends how good they are defensively. Pearson is a fine defensive winger. Offense leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Those two are not terrible, but pretty inconsistent this season.
Btw, what's up with JT Miller, there were some rumors about him and Horvat back in november?

He is but the value is likely more than the Capitals are willing to pay to acquire him because they'd need salary eaten too.

I don't think they'll add anyone. Maybe a depth piece if fitting one became available but otherwise i don't think so. With all the injuries early on they actually have a lot of forwards who have gotten a chance and done well with it so far. Prospects waiting on the wings too. If Sprong plays himself out of the line-up then maybe him + mid-pick for another struggling winger but hard to see them going all-in right now.

Hell no to Evander Kane.
