I’ve always been a fan of Bo Horvat’s game.

Neighbors - Thomas - Buchnevich

Holloway - Horvat - Kyrou

Saad/Schenn - Schenn/Dvorsky - Bolduc/Snuggerud

After year 2 the young guys move up if they’ve developed and the older guys move down.
Didn't the Islanders just trade for him and sign him to a long term deal? Almost zero chance

Fair enough. That being said, you guys drafted a guy in that very year of whom the same thing could've been said until he got put at c where he suddenly put up 38 goals.
Not that his current team is going anywhere but that's another story.
Not really, when he was drafted, we drafted him to be a C, if he stayed here, that was always the long-term vision anyway. It's never been that way with Kyrou.

Yeah. He is in year 2 of his NYI deal, full no trade for a few more years. An acquiring team would be taking on 6 1/2 years.

I agree very close to 0 chance.

But

Last place is a hell of a drug.

Fair enough, but the Blues don't have a 3rd this year. Not sure I'd trade one for Dvorak anyway...not that he isn't worth it, just don't think the Blues should be spending assets like that this year.

Now that would actually be interesting...
Every now and then i manage a sensible thought.

Call Nashville about reuniting with Ryan O'Reilly? I can't imagine he wouldn't welcome leaving that sinking ship.

2 years left on his deal @4.5m Ideal #2C still.

If traded, I would imagine ROR would want to go to a team closer to winning a Cup, but it's definitely not the craziest idea out there. I would love to have ROR back in more of a veteran support role, but not sure which prospects or picks I'd be willing to part with to make that happen. None of the top ones obviously and certainly not a first either.

Nashville fans, what would you want for ROR?

Could be. I do remember him speaking on the tribute he got from the Blues. I feel his heart might be there. He won a Cup there and they have a pretty good young roster with not many holes but a hole he’d be ideal in. Veteran matchup 2C. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Blues get a wild card spot, especially if they added him.

I don’t think I’d have thought that before the season started. Ryan O’Reilly likely didn’t expect Nashville to not be a playoff team.
I get your point on a team more a contender but he’s also got 2 more years and the Blues unlike the Predators are trending the right direction. They could be a contender on his current deal.

I would take ROR back no problem, even if he is a 3C at this stage.

Somebody mentioned Charlie Coyle above and I think he'd be a great option for the Blues as the 3C and don't think he'd cost too much. Would love to bring Frederic home at the same time. I think both players loved Montgomery.

Coyle + Frederic for Saad + Toropchenko kind of base is what I'd be thinking to work something out.

What if stl used Buchnevich at center but also brought in a winger so when they used him at center they weren’t handicapping themselves one of their best wingers.

Wingers are cheap af. Would only need like the bottom of what is acceptable.

Gotta be one out there stl can borrow for a year or two.

Buchnevich wasn’t bad at all center. He was better than some established guys.

But the blues don’t have enough matured scoring wingers to subtract him.

I don't fully disagree with your assessment that he wasn't terrible at center, and that we didn't have anyone to really support him there. But I really like Thomas and Buchnevich together and think Buch is a winger not a center.

I also don't think we really need to be adding a winger given how many we currently have on the roster. I think we're fine keeping Schenn at center for now with Holloway and Kyrou. They've been pretty good. I'm personally more concerned about Sunny being a 3C right now given his footspeed.

Can't imagine Boston goes for that offer. I'd imagine we'd have to offer another decent, though not elite piece.

And while I'd love to see Frederic in Blue, I get the sense he's more of a winger than center. At least he doesn't seem to be taking many faceoffs and when he does he's pretty terrible at it.

Oh yeah I was just saying as a base to work from, not the full trade. Could see them interested in Dean as they lack prospect C depth

With Frederic I think there's a high chance he signs with the Blues in the summer as a UFA. No, he's not a C but can get you around 40-45% on draws so he's a great 2nd option on a line. He screams Blue to me with Montgomery here especially now so just trying to speed it up. Main need would be Coyle though.

He would be a fine Sunny replacement (who's also more of a winger than center at this point) and with Dvorsky on the way, we may not need a center as badly next year as we do right now. Dean came to my mind as a trade chip as well though it may be too soon to give up on him. That would be a lot of shit disturbing in the lineup with Frederic, Neighbours, Bolduc and Holloway.

If we actually become buyers this year, which is far from a sure thing, a guy like Coyle would be a great fit.
