Top 5 Drafted Prospects Not In The NHL

I like Walton, I'm also from Sudbury so I see him a lot. I think he's rapid for his size, and has great hands.

However, I do find that he doesn't use his body much for a guy who's 6'6. Doesn't hit all that much or get engaged physically.

He has work to do, but to me he looks like a top prospect already and the guys you have ahead of him also have their own issues and in some cases much less upside.

Svechkov, for example, is a middle-6 guy at best. Very limited upside.

I find he skates like the wind, is good on both sides of the puck especially in his own end, and has been a PPG in the A in his sophomore season.

I see his floor being pretty high - at minimum an Nhler, similar to Owen Beck or Fraser Minten on the Atlantic side. I predict we see a Jarnkrok with slightly better puck skills at the next level.

Are you that down on Konsta Helenius, or was he just an oversight? I think Sabres fans would pretty unanimously have him ahead of Ostlund within our team pool.

Absolutely an oversight. Should be somewhere between Howard and Lysell

Surprised no is picking goalies. It is because they aren't recently drafted teenagers tearing up Junior leagues and tournaments? Same with no Korchinski or Nemec. D take a little longer. Goalies take even longer.

Feels like goalies should just have a separate list. What would your top 5 goalies be?

Not that I have a strong opinion but why? Kantserov following similar pace as Buchelnikov while being younger

Mainly just due to sample. Though if Kantserov keeps up his pace that may change.

For both to be close to PPG as 21 and under in the KHL is pretty absurd.

I think "best" as in highest ceiling is pretty boring so I'll give two takes on the list

Biggest NHL impact if they were in the league right now:
1. Nikishin
2. Leonard
3. ASP
4. Buium
5. kind of cheating since they both have played NHL games but a tie between Cossa and Askarov

Best individual season relative to the league they're playing in:
1. ASP
2. Cristall
3. Kantserov
4. Nazar
5. Demidov

HM shout to Luca Del Bel Belluz, who followed up a strong rookie AHL season with a monster year so far. He's just off this list for me because Cleveland is so loaded with AAAA guys this year.
