Bertuzzi is fine with Bedard, probably his best line mate he has had this season. If you think him being on a line with Mik and Smith will stop him from playing in his own end just as much, then I have a bridge to sell you.
Both of those guys know how to play without the puck. Watch more closely at the number of times the first line goes most of a shift chasing down ops while hemmed in. By the time they get possession there is nothing in the tank. Bert on the PP as a net presence is fine but he is slow which hinders his game and Bedard shouldn't have to be chasing so much. But yeah, let's remain status quo.

Status quo? Bertuzzi has been there for what? 5 or 6 games? Lol Smith is garbage, Mik is ok as a 3rd wheel, but you can't have both with little to no offense beside Bedard.

They need to put someone on Bedards line that can win faceoffs.

I just wish Bert was the player that you apparently think he is. He struggled even playing with Mathews and Marner.
No argument about winning face-offs. But who?

I don't think he's "that player" but he's much more "that player" than Mik or Lol Smith.

I think Donato Bedard Bert should be a good start, with Donato taking draws.

I like Donato's determination and shoot first mentality... Donato, Bedard, Mikheyev, I could live with for a stint ...... not sure how effective Donato is on the draw though.

Smith has some offensive skill. Probably more than Mik actually.

Sell everyone on the roster at the deadline. Would love to keep Dickinson, but we performed too poorly this season to keep him. He'll just waste away the rest of his career. Let's atleast get some assets for him and start anew.

Keep Bedard and Vlasic obviously

And if he isn't part of plan longterm trade him already

Its not fair to Reichel to be dicked around and it does nothing for Hawks roster if they dont really want him in a role with team

Agreed. Move him when he has value. I think ever putting him at C was a mistake but Davidson apparently forgot to address the C issue in the off-season and left us with two gaping holes up the middle

He needs to play like he belongs or there is no plan for him anywhere.

Agreed. He looks like a tweener.

He is not a C and never will be

He cant win a faceoff and looks out of place at C

Put him in top 9 LW spot for rest of year and he either takes off or you prepare to move on. Team is terrible and we are going to trade Hall at some point (Or he gets hurt) so its not like there isn't an excuse to play him in top 9

Dickinson has another year and we are bare bones at C. You keep him for next season unless someone does something stupid with an absurd offer

That would be fine if it weren't for the tiny issue of not having replacements to step in.
Oh well, it doesn't matter. Only a very few players on the roster will be attractive to other teams and any offers are likely to return very little.... hopefully a few draft picks.

Sooner we start moving these vet bodies out the better. Figure out what the hell we have the rest of the year with Dach, Reichel ect and move forward

Davidson needs significant improvement next year. Significant. Gonna have 25 million ish with the cap going up. He has no excuse. Guys worried about not locking money up long term which is fine but the fact is how many of these kids will be big money players anyway. And if they are when, in 7 years? The contract he signs this year will be done by then.

You can’t let Bedard continue to be left on an Island. Get a real veteran coach next year and a couple Cs and a top six winger. He talked about acquiring all those picks and at some point some will be leveraged for players. We are getting to that point. Buffalo has tried to build a team of mediocre vets and kids look where that has gone.

I agree we won't get much and I'm not even saying we should receive draft picks in return, but the state of our team is so poor, you have to make significant moves in order to shake it up. Get rid of all the failed 1 year contracts, trade Hall and Dickinson (hopefully for a significant asset), then make a huge move. They need a big named player and maybe a cap dump that can provide a nice shakeup on the roster. Not saying a 4+ year cap dump, but maybe a 2-3 year cap dump that might provide some actual value to the team

I wish KD or Sorenson could somehow light a fire under Reichel. It is so frustrating to see a player with great wheels and offensive ability shy away from finishing a play. He's 23 in May ....it's time to show something. I'd hate to see him get traded for a song only to become the player he could be on another team.

Think he needs a shot at wing here before we deal him

Braindead using him as a C. Put Foligno as a C at least we won’t hamper his development

No more Donato with Bedard please

Donato is a solid player but he either shoots the puck or the play dies on his stick. He is effective playing a simple, unimaginative game with his head down and his ass on fire. It's a waste putting him with the most creative player on the team. No more!

Strome still sucks
If Strome was on this Hawks team whichever yutes and vets he was playing with would be scoring more. He's better at scoring than anyone on this team not named Bedard.

My take on the Hawks is they are a product of too much league expansion. If they dump the vets at the TDL where are the Hawks getting a vet or two to help whichever young guys are left on the team and to be a difference maker for next year?
