Yeah but people here think its cup or bust. Keeping your team competitive and having a shot every year is so mid.Don Sweeney should be in the top 5. 700 games into his tenure, his team has the best record.

Or drafting good prospects/accumulating picks.Yeah but people here think its cup or bust. Keeping your team competitive and having a shot every year is so mid.
McCrimmon, Nill, Zito, Sweeney, BriseBois
Zito, Allvin, Sweeney, Nill, McCrimmon
Agree with those choices. For me In no order … Zito McCrimmon Allvin Sweeney Nill
Brisebois....Nah, Yzerman built that entire foundation and just handed over the keys to the Cup to him. The Cups should have Yzerman's name on them, and I am in no way an Yzerman or Wings fan.Brisebois over Allvin for sure. Allvin might get there but I don’t think there is enough track record to justify him over Brisebois’ cups in Tampa

As a Montreal fan when you've seen one GM fail to do even that, it's comparatively amazing what Hughes has done. Not sure how people could put GMs that have only done a rebuild or part of one in the top 5 lmao. Gathering picks and assets is the easiest thing to do in this league. Insane you can say a gm is top 5 when they haven't even accomplished anything of recognition. Just because you got a bunch of high picks doesn't mean it will turn directly into success.
What have they proven they can do but put together a losing team? Anyone can be bad and draft playersI'll definitely come across as a homer here, but in no particular order:
Hughes, Grier,
Let's see how this upcoming season goes. Particularly for Hughes. What have they proven they can do but put together a losing team? Anyone can be bad and draft players
What bar are you setting for him?Let's see how this upcoming season goes. Particularly for Hughes.
Playoffs or on the cusp of it. The team is ready and needs to take a big step. Being a legit playoff team by next season that could do some damage. Granted I'm a believer in shorter rebuilds than many here. What bar are you setting for him?
There's certainly more to building a team than you seem to realize. It's about building the right culture and setting up the cap long term, as well as acquiring talent. You wouldn't know that that looks like. What have they proven they can do but put together a losing team? Anyone can be bad and draft players
