That's not actually true, at least when comparing same ages. For Bure, for his career, average goals per game per team was 2.98....for Ovechkin, up to that same age, the per game goals were 2.82.2. When they played needs to be adjusted for. There is a reason Blaine Stoughton, Denis Maruk, Jacques Richard and a slew of others had better golascoring seasons that Crosby, Kovalchuk, Iginla, etc. and it isnt golascoring ability. Bure scored a lot of his goals in a very hard to score era. Ovechkin less so, but still much harder than most of Wayne and Mario's goals and every single one of Mike's.
There were some very low scoring years in Ovechkin's 20s, not down as low at it got for a few years in Bure's career, but Bure also played during a very high scoring period as well....couple years at a level we still haven't seen since.
