He's better than Tavares and several others ahead of him. Pavelski? Bergeron is still the best defensive forward in the NHL.
Only on pace for only 61 pts with the best team in the league as the 1C. I understand hes a top 2-way forward, and that has value, but hes lost a step in his game.

Pavelski had 81 pts last season and is on pace for 74 this season. Decent 2 way game, had over 100 hits last season, top faceoff man. I dont know why you think Berg is THAT much better.

No he really shouldn't.
I'd say he belongs in the HM tier. Being out this season hurts, but he was ahead of Timmy on the depth chart at the start of the year. If he's you're 2C you should be in great shape (unless you're Ottawa and have a singular RHD).

Having Matthews in the same tier as McDavid is just silly.
Nope! 60 goals his d state are god tier. It's Crosby /datsyuk all over again. Except datsyuk never scored sixty. Anyone who thinks Matthews isint on that tier (he's player injured all year that's why his numbers are down , well his d state arent) is just wrong. Matthews >>drai ainec

I don't care about the Drai vs Matthews part, McDavid is in a tier of his own when it comes to centers.

Looking at the numbers I would put Hughes and EP in the same tier, I probably take JH in an expansion draft due to age, contract and maybe potential but right now their numbers are pretty similar. And this underrates Horvat IMO. Its been over a year now of elite goal scoring production, not saying he's top tier yet but I would easily have him in one of those tiers and not an HM.

if Pettersson didnt have a down year last season, Id maybe agree. Jack Hughes has only got better every year, and is already elite in his 3rd season. Not saying EP isnt this season, but Im giving the JH the advantage here.

Horvat having a career year in his contract year isnt proof enough (much like Kadri). Hes a career 55 point player. If he does it again next season, then sure.

At least a half dozen of these guys may have made the list in 2015, but this is 2023.

What a terrible, brutal, inexcusable list. Just awful. If I ever made a list it would be way way WAY better than this. WAY better
