With 4 nations going on... while the likely victor of such a tournament is clearly Ontario, who would round out the top 3?

And yes... NB+the Maritimes is not a province, but ofc if the NHL were to have such a tournament they would not exclude Crosby and Mackinnon... and the team itself is interesting.

The Maritimes is the text book definition of top heavy, at least at forward. You go from generational talent to "who?" in one line.

But Ontario (easily wins it), then BC, Alberta would be my picks. Quebec stronger than I expected, while Manitoba would get run over.

Alberta, BC and Ontario on another level man. Didnt realize the talent coming out of there right now. These 3 provinces churning out gold
These 3 as well for me with Ontario on top, that group of forwards is just too strong.

I think to make it anything other than a landslide or waste of time for half the teams...you'd ultimately just have to start lumping some groups together to compete.

Quebec and Atlantic Canada. The Prairies (Berta, Sasky, Manitoba). Then just leave Ontario and British Columbia on their own. You've got 4 teams that could at least compete on a somewhat level playing field. More or less evens things out population-wise, or brings it all closer, so that makes sense.

Sad how far Quebec has fallen.

in years past, you put Quebec vs The World and Quebec could win.

Ontario is clearly the best here. I also voted for Alberta and Maritimes.

The way I figure is - Alberta/BC is 50/50 as to whom the 2nd best team 'on paper' is, but I have a feeling Maritimes and Crosby/MacKinnon would still beat them. And I prefered Alberta slightly over BC.

Martimes includes NB, doesn’t include NFLD, you go to Atlantic Canada to include them

Tbf I do think Quebec are being underrated slightly in this poll... even if they dont have the quality they used to.

Feel like a chance could medal (albeit Ontario, Alberta and BC for sure the 3 best)... as deeper than some other teams, with a solid top 6 and top 4 and all legit top 9 NHL fwds.

I mean, 11/13 forwards are 40+ point guys... 5/7 Dmen are 20+ minute a night guys including 3 who are top pair level.

My old mini tournament proposal was to split Canada between West, Ontario, and East. At the time we did polls on it and folks thought it was remarkably even on talent. But in just a few short years West has surged ahead, and East is aging out.

Now it would have to be four teams: BC, Prairies, Ontario, and East, and hope East hangs on.
