Top 10 players to watch at the World Juniors

Lots of comments about the slideshow/multi-page format. The reason you see this format all over the place is for ad impressions. People will pay per "impression" an ad gets. If a reader goes to one page, and sees 2 ads, the blog gets paid for 2 impressions. If the reader has to click through a dozen pages, they can see 24 ads, and the blog gets paid for 24 impressions. I'm not really a fan of the format either, but it does make blogs a lot more money.

Yup. When OP said it was for formatting purposes I chuckled. Honesty is much preferred.

Ehlers will be in the top 5 scoring in this tourney. He could lead if his team gets the games.

Also think Sarros will be the best goalie.

Other than that, hoping Timo Meier has a good showing!!

I never even knew about the whole ads thing, I'm only a contributing writer! I can see why slideshows can be more preferred. As for myself though, I like to have information separated and don't mind clicking.

Based on the feedback here, I can talk to my editor and try and arrange something different for next time. It seems enough people have expressed disinterest in it.

Ah I see. If you're only the writer, then your editor probably is trying to maximize revenue. Many other websites use this format too.

So Ehlers and Nylander, two guys who were picked after Virtanen in the draft make the list, and Virtanen doesn't even make the honorable mentions?

Can you name any other fans outside Vancouver who thinks that was a smart move by Benning 6 months later?

I havent seen any.

Based on my very limited knowledge, I think the list itself is alright but it doesn't provide much added value. It seems rather generic and interchangeable with dozens of similar lists on the web. Maybe I would add some quotes from scouts or coaches, shouldn't be that hard to find when it comes to top end prospects. Or use off-ice pictures of players.

And yeah, slideshows = evil.

HATE slideshows - won't even bother opening

I don't really get why you list the players everyone knows about instead of some hidden gems.

I mean, everybody knows that McDavid and Eichel are great and it's common sense that the returnees are going to put up a show.

I was hoping to read about some not-so-well-known prospects tbh. But that's just me.

But it was informative and I clicked through the entire article. Not a fan of the format, but oh well...

You are not the only one. I also would like to know about hidden gems.

But are they really that hidden if HFB Partner journalist can "find" them?

When it comes to my list, there are probably a lot of people out there who know a lot about their country but not others and who they have. I appreciate the fact that some of you do want to see who could be a gem, but not everyone knows as much as some of us do about the tournament and who's in it.

But hey, I actually thought about making a who could surprise list, just haven't had the time over these busy holidays after this one.

Pavel Buchnevich is the one I am most excited about. Really expecting him lead the Russians. Think the Rangers got a real steal on the draft with him. Had the same thoughts about Kucherov when he dropped low, and I am a lot higher on Buchnevich than I was Kucherov.

Good list but I would have put Kapanen, Buchnevich, Fiala and Vrana on it somehow.
Maybe lose the goalies, lose Lazar. Or make it a top 12 list?

I didn't mean a lot with my little joke. I've just seen too many HFB Partner articles to be little bit sceptic, nothing against you personally. :)

And congratulations for the internship with TSN, must be a dream come true for someone who pursues a career in journalism. :handclap:

The heavy NA slant was expected but I was honestly surprised there were so many players from the SHL that we're left of the list or ranked very low.
Don't get the logic in writing that it will be fun to see how dominant Nylander will be and then go ahead and place players who most likely will not dominate the tourney above him.
