If they're good at hockey, I don't care where they're from tbh.
That's the theory. However, after 11 drafts there are patterns appearing. One of which is that the Jets either see things others don't amongst American prospects or that their scout in that region holds more sway than other scouts within the organization.

On a career basis there is a large difference. In any event, the players chosen by the Jets over 11 years from the USA skews well outside the league average.
Not sure how you come up with this, especially based on that chart.

Though if you're a Habs fan, you might use the chart to justify picking Slafkovsky over Wright, certainly fewer Canadians, more Slovakians!

Chevy said yesterday in an interview that they take the best player available for their needs when they pick and ( paraphrasing ) don't give a crap where the player is from. He was asked specifically about Manitobans and he said that's just how it turns out. They just aren't there when it's the Jets turn to draft, it's not that they are avoiding them.

This is a non-issue.
Until this non issue asks to be traded ( trouba, roslovic, wheeler )
