True, its a tweener league. Besides Josh Leivo being #1 in scoring with 47 pts in 39 games the other North Americans are in 5th spot - Trevor Murphy a Canadian deeman who played a total of 8 NHL games. In 12th spot is Sheldon Rempal who had 3 pts in 21 NHL games before crossing the pond.

The NHL is exceedingly role specific. As such many NHLers would be outscored by the likes Leivo, Murphy, Rempal in the different style KHL game.

Shit, last year NHL reject Goldobin outscored his teammate Tsyplakov by 31 points. This year Tsyplakov is playing 16 min/game in the NHL.

When someone who's a known locker room cancer like De Angelo or JT Miller claims "family" or "mental health" as an excuse to leave a team, I think it's valid to not simply take their excuses at face value.

Don't let the fact that most teammates liked him get in the way of your little story eh.

I guess every guy that has a minor dust up with a teammate is forever branded a "locker room cancer"

Am I reading this tweet correctly

"The team also filed a protest with the KHL and the Ministry of Sport because fans of other teams started chanting mean things at them like “SKA is the shame of Russian hockey”. Lokomotiv was fined by the KHL for its fans’ taunting of the army team. Spartak fans chanted “SKA is the disgrace of Russian hockey” earlier in the season, which sent Rotenberg into a frenzy."

That's some George Orwell stuff right there

When you continue to find yourself unemployed, yes.

For all of his flaws in his own zone, DeAngelo is absolutely an NHL player, and there's a reason he's not playing in the league.

Both can be true.

Most toxic people are usually the way they are due to a lack of mental health.

I don’t like Tony D, in fact he’s the punchline of like… most of my jokes on this site. But I hope he is able to sufficiently address his demons some day and turn into a good person.

I can’t help but root for people like him (ie those who haven’t done something violent or criminal) to become better versions of themselves.

There's almost no limit to the number of players outside the NHL that I'd rather sign than Tony DeAngelo. I'm talking like bringing Brent Sopel out of retirement. I can't think of too many players with more confirmed off-ice issues.

To be fair, anyone who's not in the locker room calling someone a locker room cancer is being an idiot. Team dynamics are complicated and no fan knows what they're talking about when they use that label.

Yep, he was a locker room cancer.

His salary had big bonus potential (stats), so he cared for one side of the ice only, extended shifts, yelled at teammates.
Told the assistant coach to f***-off after he was taken off the 1st PP unit. Then was benched.

You have to be a real piece of work if Rotenberg is your coach, yet you're the biggest a-hole on the team.

SKA said he's welcome back if he decides to come back to the KHL. They had a long goodbye letter that was very supportive. I'm not a Tony D shill but there's a big contrast between that and this BS that surfaced today. Plus that GIF of the coach. What is that supposed to infer anyway ?

Imagine being such a human POS, that even the SKA, of all the teams in Ice Hockey, don't want you on the team
