Hey guys, so with the Rangers officially looking to get rid of DeAngelo...think we could steal him with a huge retain from the NYR?

Obviously with a caveat of sitting down with him and basically saying
“We will give you a chance to resurrect your NHL career but 1 single stupid thing and we have the right to terminate your contract on the spot...can’t deny the guy is absolutely talented and he’s off to a bad start but he’s way better than he’s showing...he’d definitely be an upgrade assuming he showed up to play...sounds more like a political thing more so than anything really bad about the guy...apparently Kreider decked him

Even if the Leafs were willing to afford him this chance, someone would have to be subtracted from the roster just to fit him in at 50% retention ($2.4M AAV)

That wouldn't be a good look, especially if things went sideways and he ended up being cut down the line.

I hear that, it would be an enormous gamble and he’d be instantly under the microscope but he brings talent and snarl it’s a tempting combination

Hard pass. The PP is working just fine, he would only be getting third pairing minutes, and he’s bad defensively. Oh and he’s toxic in the dressing room.

It also handcuffs the Leafs cap situation further

No sense in it.

The Rangers are sitting 28th in the league and put the 4th highest scoring defenseman in the NHL on waivers, never to play another game for them. If that isn't enough of a statement that the juice isn't worth the squeeze with this guy, I don't know what is.

This is what I got from the Rangers fans

Georgiev hit him over a sarcastic remark? I know DeAngelo has a history and was on thin ice, but getting punched and then having your career possibly ended over a sarcastic remark would suck. Hope this is enough of a message to change.

He needs to stew in the AHL for a bit before I'd consider him.

Sucks for my work pool because I drafted him and could be playing short all season.

This guy is an absolute idiot.

He isn't even a kid anymore, he is 25 years old.

Old enough to know right from wrong.

Very little chance Shanny and Dubas bring this kid in, despite the strong character of this room.

This apparently is just one of several incidents regarding this person and their character spanning years.

Don't see how the reward even matches the risk here. Right side D also isn't the team need that it once was.

While I don’t believe that story about him keeping K’Andre Miller’s first goal puck, he’s definitely just a brutal guy that can’t smarten up, hard pass.

why would you not believe it? It’s been reported by multiple sources. There is def some truth to it

Stay away from him even for free and 0 K. He goes against what the standards of this organization is.
Horrific personality.

I need some rumors chuck. You hear any names at all about the potential "forwards" we might be looking at?
