Kupari will never play up the middle in the NHL. KHL maybe if he finds the learning curve here too long, but not the NHL. He is a Silfverberg style winger in the making. Doesn't know how to play a controlled team game at all, but has terrific outside skills. He is looking at a loooooooong AHL stay.

I agree with this. He has 2nd line RW written all over him.

So Muzzin, Toffoli, Clifford and Campbell

for

Bjornfot
Grundstrom
Moore
Madden
Durzi

Vancouver 2nd in 2020
Columbus 3rd in 2020
cond Toronto 3rd in 2021
cond Vancouver 4th in 2022

... And the ball just got handed off to the scouting staff. These next 2 drafts are rather important ones for the Kings, to understate wildly.

And that's not a bad asset to have at all. I was disappointed with his selection at the draft because I thought the Kings needed more certainty given their lack of depth at the time, and was much happier with the Akil Thomas pick the next day. Still think Thomas will have a better NHL career.

Hoping that this is a blessing in disguise, where Kupari can't default to trying overly explosive stuff and has to put more work into zone posession and cycling.

Thats a good way of looking at it, i was too busy saying 'f*** it' to look that far ahead.

Very sad to see Toffoli leave after seening him at the stadium series game in Colorado score his hat trick.I dont see this being enough but, it's not terrible, wish Kings would've just resigned him,oh well.

Initially I was a bit underwhelmed, but after learning a bit more about Madden I'm ok with this

Now just pull off the same for Marty and I’d call it a massive win!
Madden is likely headed to Ontario next year so that’s a very nice piece along with Fagemo, Dudas, Moverare, Ingham, maybe Turcotte plus the returning players like JAD, Kupari(healthy of course), Bjornfot, Anderson, Brickley and more...
Our feeder AHL pipeline will be on track to develop and deliver much needed talent

Akil Thomas says hi ! Ontario Reign are going to be a powerhouse. Cole Hults is rumored to be signing too.

It's a little sad seeing Toffoli exit, especially given how few legit top 6 forwards we've developed recently... But it is hard not to be satisfied with the package received. We got a solid pick and prospect, and if we wished to re-sign him, we'd probably be able to. Although, I personally would like to develop and put money elsewhere...

Thomas's skill is underrated on this board. Yes, he'll have to get stronger on his skates as he fills out, but he'll push for the roster in 2 years after his AHL rookie campaign next season.

How will you feel if the Kings resign Toffoli to 2 years for $10 million ($5 million AAV) on July 1?

Vancouver seems real desperate to sneak into the playoffs. No first or second round picks now, plus trading one of their better prospects for a rental who will want a big contract

don't know about SOLID but decent yes

2019 Preseason Prospect Rankings: #8 Tyler Madden

hopefully Blake can turn that 2nd rd pick into a SOLID NHLer

i wonder...if he would have waited for the trade deadline, would Toffoli's value actually go down?
I think Toffolis worth wouldve gone up,dont like the return

I be happy to resign Toffoli over a 2nd round pick and a ok decent propect.Toffoli is still young. We dont need the cap space right now.

We don't need Toffoli right now either since we are not going to be making any sort of playoff impact for quite sometime.

We need stop hap people in the meantime with means you'll paying at lease 5 mil for any type of decent veteran for the next few years.Your reasoning makes no sense when the Kings will be spending that money on sub par players anyways.Lets stop kidding ourselves. Some here didnt listen for 4 years that the team wasnt a playoff caliber team and attack many of us,now you want us to take your opinion as serious?

You're referencing a preseason ranking from 5 months ago, which is quite some time ago in the development of a prospect. Since then he's rocketed up their rankings to top 3 in their organization and has been listed in a few publications, The Athletic being one (and Craig Button who everyone hates), as a top 50 prospect overall. I think solid is valid description at least. Scoring 1.37 ppg is pretty good for a sophomore in the NCAA.

I would fear that the only reason he is signing here is to stay near the beach and be part of the Manhattan Beach Party Crew.

Yeah, this is the kind of "just get in and anything can happen" approach I hope is dead and buried with the Kings franchise. Can't be too sure though since the players running it now were raised with that mantra in LA.

My reasoning makes perfect sense in that we are not going to win anything for quite awhile and we got a 2nd a a pretty decent prospect for an expiring contract that had no guarantee of resigning with the Kings. You make business decisions first and foremost. I deal in zero emotion when it comes to this. You always make this deal. If they want to try and sign him in the offseason then fine but it's doubtful they can get him back unless they overpay. By the time the Kings are good again, he will be past 30.
