More than likely because chicago needs cap space i dont see them retaining much on toews. I can see them retain something max of 2.5m then arizona retains 50% of whats left or maybe buffalo could as well. But we will see i see more interest in kane than toews. (Im not saying toews isnt a quality player just saying i can see teams pay more for kane than toews)

Hawks have no cap issues going forward.
So for them to retain half on both is no issue. Kane will return more obviously. Just don’t see much interest in Toews even at half.

I imagine Chicago retains 50% on both to maximize the return. It’s only a year anyway.
