Barely reaching the playoff without belonging there is the absolute worst scenario.
We need someone who can finish the rebuild or start a new one.
What we have right now is getting nowhere and destroys any foreseeable future for the team

True. But at least that's trying. Some GM's can't even get to that point. Some of them draft so poorly there aren't even futures to sell.

I'd be off my rocker if I was a Vancouver fan. It looked inevitable they would win until the Kings bitch-slapped them with doubt. Their rebuild has been atrocious, they have very little after 10 years. Missed playoffs last 7 of 8 seasons. 4 coaches over that time and not a bright future.

There are a lot of teams with worse management and coaching than the Kings. I'd put Blake and TM around the upper middle in the league, so there are more below than above. If they do make a change, I hope it's a longer, thought out process. Not something knee-jerk.

Exactly. I'm not a huge Todd fan, but you could do worse. Be careful what you wish for.

I think Blake is actually good at executing moves, he just needs to be pointed in the right direction. And that usually comes from above.

Like everything with this team, it will matter on results. If the Kings smack into another first-round exit or fail to make the playoffs then I think Todd is as good as gone. If they go deep, then I could see him being extended a few more seasons.

If the Kings don’t get to the second round then he SHOULD be done for. He should have already been fired so the fact he’s still coaching the Kings means Blake might be in love.

Blake getting another HC hire after 7 seasons without a playoff win would be insanity. I think even the most pro-Blake people on this forum would agree that it’s do or die for Blake this season. They are very like attached at the hip.

If Tmac is done this year, Blake will have one last coach to hire and then it is do or die and he probably won't get renewed unless his last ditch coach prods the Kings further in the playoffs.

In that case, I see a first round exit and thus organizational changes. I don't think PLD moves the needle enough with what was traded away. Plus, I just think the shortened roster will lead to more injuries.

Ooh that Patrick Roy idea is sexy. They did win a Cup together in 2001, so there's a connection there.

Another first round exit will be unacceptable. The team has no doubt gotten better, going from a sub .438 winning percentage to .604 and .634 in the last two years. The PP has gotten a lot better with the additions of Jim Hiller and Kevin Fiala, but the PK has been embarrassingly bad, as has the goaltending.

If those two areas don't improve, then the Kings (and McLellan) are doomed. Not concerned about the offense, and the defense with Gavrikov added for a full season, and Clarke/Spence in over Durzi/Walker is going to be a big difference maker.
