No, like I say, I fully expect LW-Brassard-Zuccarello to be the full time 2nd line next season. Question is can we get MSL or Nash to play on the left?

I think Hagelin-Ott-Miller could be a very nice 3rd line, or really Hagelin-Miller-3rd line RW. Team could use a more affordable 2 way player for next season.

Some will argue that center depth wins championships. I don't think Stepan-Brassard-Ott/Miller-Moore/Boyle is even top 15 in the league in terms of center-depth.

This is where the predicament comes in, because the Rangers HAVE to buy-out Richards. They open a pretty large hole in the top-6.

They won't need to. MZA can shift to lw and it won't hurt his game.

I think if Richards is brought out and Stastny is not brought in, you'll see Stepan and Brassard's numbers improve as they take over minutes. I thought they'd split offensive time, and all end up with about 50 points each between the 3 of them this year, if you distribute Richards time among those two, you're looking at more like 55 for Brassard and 65 for Stepan. Get a guy who can get 40 from the 3rd line and it's a decent situation.

So you're feeling the Moneyball system?

Let's say: We're losing Richards' 60 points, Pouliot's 35 points. We assume Brassard and Stepan will pick up 10 extra points each with upgraded minutes on special teams and 5v5. So in that sense, we need a 3C and a winger who can combine for 75 points, or roughly, 38 points each?

I think they'll re-sign Pouliot, I think both sides recognize he has a good thing going with his line here. Should be good cheap production from him.

But as I've said, i simply don't think we have the cash to get Stastny, not even sure we would want him, so that leaves as 3C options; guys like Legwand, Ott, or Miller.

2C is a barren market on the UFA side. Is it too much to ask Brassard to play over his head on the 2nd line, and sign a guy like Ott for 3C? Or expect Miller to fully handle 3C duties?

Maybe we offer sheet ROR? Berglund? Schenn? Imagine if the Rangers offer-sheet a Flyer  Wow.

This poses an issue, because you HAVE to buy Richards out...

It also makes Stastny all the more appealing if he doesn't sign with Colorado. Can we give him "Cally money" though?

Stepan
Brassard
Miller
Moore/Boyle/Lindberg

Or

Stepan
Stastny
Brassard
Moore/Boyle/Lindberg

Rangers cannot offersheet anyone of substance as they don't have a 2015 1st round pick. In order to offer-sheet, you must own your own pick.

Ott will be a hot commodity. Best 3C on the market. Maybe Bolland. Plays a different game though. Ott will command 4M. Some decent term. I think it comes down to Miller and Lindberg. Where the Org thinks they are. Can they handle 3C?

Good contingency might be a guy like Goc who can slide to 4th line as well. Should cost less than Ott. Not the same player though.

Miller should pick up some offensive slack as the third center. Stepan is not having a great year but it's not exactly the disaster some people are making it out to be. Too young to be jumping all over him. Agree that both he and Brassard's number might go up--especially considering one will play with Nash and the other St. Louis.

Miller is tearing up the AHL and so is Fast. Why couldn't a third line of Hagelin-Miller-Fast be possible? There is defensive awareness and there definitely is offensive potential. Next year is about 2 things a)winning the cup and b)growing players to take over roles left by Dubinsky and Callahan

Next year.
MSL - Stepan - Nash
Kreider - Brassard - Zuccarello
Hagelin - Miller - Fast
Bourque/UFA - Lindberg/Moore - Dorsett

McD - G
Staal - McI/Allen
Moore - Klein

This lineup a)saves money by not spending crazy money on UFA b)allows the growth of three young players in the system and c)with the defense the Rangers have, barring any Hank collapse or regression of the D, is a top defense, although maybe I have to po much faith in Allen.

It's a good idea Pavel, if Fast shows to be ready for it.

I'd also look into playing a line of Zuccarello-Brassard-Nash, as Pouliot has spoiled a lot of chances of late and that line really needs a true finisher.

You don't want your 2 best goal scorers(Nash,MSL)on the same line.Split them up and make it harder for other teams top defensive pairings
I also don't want Bourque anywhere near this team. Its also a lot to expect 4 or 5 rookies to come right in and play pivotal roles.

Zuccarello and Kreider both have chemistry, which make them a dangerous line with Brassard. The first line, you need your best players to be the best.

The third line, I'm not concerned with the rookies. Miller has played over 50 games in the NHL, and I don't think he looked out of place. The one rookie who I think might have a hard time making it might be Lindberg, because you don't want to put a rookie in no position to not score.

And Bourque? Why not give him a shot at camp? If he can PK and play 7-8 minutes of good hockey, he'd be a cheaper option then acquiring that through UFAs. If he can't go in a different direction, that's why teams need depth.
