Nylander needs a line built around him. Give him Kerfoot and Bunting, all 3 can shoot, skate, and cycle.

Interesting guy....fourth round pick, obviously worked his ass off to get where he is..'

young guy, wife, couple of kids, and to me a very dependable guy.

are WE, SERIOUSLY going to slag on a guy, who does nothing but try every game.. are we there....

I have seen nothing but effort and dependabilty out of this guy, i am officially not engaged here

the guy is good, dependable, and not weak physically...

Lets ask an expert,a former first round pick, jack

For me as a fan of sports and hockey, its really cool.

Hey,what do I KNOW....lets ask hutchison, alex the one time guy, or JACK johnny bower campbell about tj brodie

t.j. brodie might be one of the boring post game or pre game interviews in the nhl.

but yeah, i watch him closely

T.J. brodie, amazing dman, end of story for me until jack or johnny bower campbell wants to express, what none of us can

Another brilliant move by a brilliant guy...our gm if u ever played defence at any level, watch this guy, how calgary let this guy go is beyond the beyond.

Been saying this forever. Create matchup nightmares for opposing coaches. Him and Kerfoot proved they can be dangerous

At this point the matchup nightmare would hopefully be whoever ends up with Tavares. I can't see coaches trying to stop him over Nylander at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised if Engvall-Tavares-Spezza would thrive getting offensive zone starts against 3rd lines, as slow as they are they can grind forever and have Engvall to cover for odd man rushes against.

Haven't been impressed by any of our top 4 D so far tbh.

Best players so far have probably been Jack, Willy, and......given his super tough usage, probably Kampf.
agreed on kampf, bunting will be the "best" signing but kampf has the potential to be the most important one given how hes played so far(especially on the pk)

I’d say Campbell, Nylander, Rielly and Brodie have been our top 4 players, though hard to rank. D, goalies and forwards are so different.

Bunting, Spezza, Sandin and Kampf have all been excellent value. Engvall has exceeded expectations too.

Everyone else has been somewhere from “roughly meeting expectations” to “very disappointing” (so far).

Fun note - all of our high performing low salary guys combined (Campbell, Bunting, Spezza, Sandin, Kampf and Engvall) make less than Kerfoot + Mrazek. Kerfoot/Mrazek/Ritchie making a combined $9.8 mil is going to be a real problem next offseason, with Campbell and Rielly needing big raises. People rip Dubas for the Matthews/Marner/Tavares contracts, but honestly the Kerfoot acquisition and Mrazek/Ritchie signings could be low key worse - could easily end up $9.8 mil AAV for about $4 mil in value, while our 3 highest paid forwards aren’t overpaid by a combined $5 mil IMO, more like a combined $3-4 mil.

Kampf, a defensive machine is essential on a team that requires it but indications were last year that TO had a decent defensive team as it was. TO loaded up on more defensive players for the playoffs even tho already reasonably good defensively, TO then had difficulty scoring so yes the best solution was bring in Kampf while losing Hyman a 20 goal scorer.

Defensive players are cheap and TO has Cap problems but the playoffs last year really highlighted TO's need for offensive depth, even in TO's first 4 games without Matthews TO has been having scoring issues. The scoring issues without Matthews and Hyman really brings home the issue of TO's lack of offensive depth.

I watched a post game interview with some of the leafs.

wow, i can see why wayne simmonds is popular, guy is like super real and cool

spezza could take any high end job of anyone in the nhl when he hangs up the skates, incredible personality.

Kerfoot could be a gm, the day he hangs em up..

I am a big time DUBAS FAN...THIS guy only made one mistake he didnt read a certain book, that predicted corona b.s. `over a decade ago.

He locked up three guys for what should have been chump change... Not even starting salaries in the nba, nfl or mlb..

The players love him, agents love him, this guy is a keeper..

AND, he got muzzin and campbell for chump

guy is a freaking genius.. And this bunting freak, man, gm of arizona is asleep

Auston Matthews and McDavid, and yeah draisitl should be making way way more than george springer.. I mean springer has a lot of game, but these guys are right up there with the guy..at least

Dubas has done one thing that hopefully we can all agree on, its an entertaining, fan friendly team, no creeps, no assholes, a team that is on lineup roll a desk to win in the post season.

tanenbaum let go of hyman thank god, but i dont see this dubas kid going anywhere, any time soon or keefe.

Toronto has masai, shapiro, atkins and dubas...these considerable men \t will not win every year, but they are going to entertain, and bring fun to watch athletes, every year to our vast appetites.

I always thought kerfoot was a productive nhl player, but I never knew why he was so, seemingly protected and considered by mlse..

Well, watch an interview with this guy, future nhl gm for sure, IF, he wants the job.

These are the types you want governing the locker room..when zeke can do the analytics of a locker room, that is a multi million dollar guy. combined of course with playing ability.

What has governed real estate...a hugely manipulated field..

location location location

dubas gets that, most of his network are real estate people

get a good coach, close enough in age to the oldest player and get great locker room guys.

Listen to wayne simmonds, I mean, the guy is a guy from the hood..

U think he gets a few peeps going, goddamn right and he still has some rink rat jam...

That guy is a rink rat guy...Not a lot of babcock in that guys game...

He is fun as shit to watch when those old arms and legs are warmed up...

Again smart move by Dubas, and I bet the guy is loved in the locker room.. I mean listen to the guy, its like he is already auditioning to be a five million dollar guy a year after his playing career is over and u know what, i am cheering for him...

the guy plays and has played and he is smart enough to know, dont be too smart like an esposito, those two brother brought waaaaay too much truth to an untruthful world...just stay hood bro and be commercial, big bucks coming your way..

Brodie has been the Leafs best player thus far. Bunting would be a close second. The Leaf stars are not getting it done....again, although from Matthews first game, he is going to be awesome.

Brodie is not flashy or anything like that and barely noticeable. But he gets the job done and very dependable defensively.

Engvall has turned into a give away machine. Kerfoot is overpaid by 3.5 million.

Agree or disagree?

Who do you think is the Leafs best player 4 games in?

I STILLhope and suspect, that zeke is kyle dubas..

my best friend growing up, for the years of 3 to ten was the youngest gm in nhl history was gord stellick

we were the gods of toronto for about ten years

me being me and him being me

gotta say, it was weird sitting beside him and him only him saying this guy is going nowhere

his brother was also super smart

all three of us,eastern euros

rushed through the canadian system

gordie was super smart
same for his brother

gordie to me was t99o

too smart

he reminded me so much of dubas
so much

i never asked him i was always polish that way, stay safe keep the enemy away

would have my best friend delivered stanley cups

possibly so, possibly yes, but what he would have done, in my mind was deliver, as dubas is showcasing, is great hockey players

gord stellick, if he allowed to do what he saw, was kyle dubas .like

not saying one or the other is better, both really guys like a p;ollick or a bowman

mike babcock, is a huge talent

i dont know him at all, but that guy could get a guy to go over, the hill, to complete and maybe die

Do some players, like playing for a guy like that, no...NO,

BUT, i will say this...

I GET so many phone calls regarding the nhl, players old guys young guys

i will say this, the reason i get half decent info, is because, i dont pass anything along

YOU all want some inside info

a guy on the margin on a fourth line, is up at the crack of a rooster, working his ass off.

my top story about an an nhl great

dated a girl for two months, without telling her,he was the best hockey player in the world

that is how guarded and modest these guys are

and no,it didnt go to marriage

pros athletes have have to be guarded
advused thank god guys like bobby orr took the place of alan eagleson

i know eagleson and i know orr i actually liked both, life can be comp;licated and weird

I NEVER, got to ask alan eagleson, what the f***...cause he took a hit from me,that would have killed anyone else,, anyone else,so,ya, i kinda respect him till he meets and tells me his story, and knowing him, it will be a doozy

I do not have the personal digits of phil or tony esp;osito

i FIND that odd... phil esposito, tony esposito, paul henderson won the most important series, of alltime

bobby orr didnt play
bobby hull did not p;lay

kerfoot isnt overpaid

Almost had him there at 6, I've just really liked Kampf's game so far; been so reliable & consistent. After those 6 I found it's hard to decide. Matthews looked great in his debut too but he's only played 1 game... Marner & Tavares are heavily underperforming but it's not like they're far off either.
