Well this is awful news for Hampus. A broken patella can be career ending. :(
This is awful, was really looking forward to seeing Hampus back later this Spring

I hope Hampus is back soon, I just have flashbacks to Miller and his knee. I hope it has healed well and won't 'hamper' his return.
So much for this tiny whisper of hope for the D corps. Poor Hampus, hope this doesn’t lead toward retirement

Early exit for Frederic

The Bruins lost Trent Frederic early in the second period and the winger was unable to return after he absorbed a big hit from Toronto defenseman Jake McCabe.

Coach Joe Sacco had no update on Frederic, who was laboring on the bench for a bit before the medical staff took him to the locker room.

Charlie McAvoy was spotted briefly in the Bruins locker room at Warrior Arena Tuesday just after the club’s optional skate prior to the 5-4 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs at TD Garden.

The Bruins defenseman likely won’t be spotted on the ice for a while, but he did take to social media to give an update on his 4 Nations Face-Off experience, which included a pair of games in Montreal and a four-day stay at Massachusetts General Hospital.

McAvoy suffered an injury to the AC joint in his right shoulder in Team USA’s opener against Finland. After treatment, he played through the ailment in US-Canada Game 1. He endured a subsequent infection, necessitating the hospital stay.

“After getting back to Boston, things unfortunately took a scary turn with my injury and I had to spend four days in the hospital being treated for infection. I want to thank all the incredible people at [Mass. General] for taking such great care of me. The team of Doctors: Peter Asnis, Tom Holovacs, Dean Donahue, and Sandra Nelson, and the nurses, and all the amazing staff that treated me with such special care. I am so grateful for you all.

“Lastly, thank you to all who reached out and for the well wishes. We’re on the mend now and I look forward to being back on the ice as soon as I can with the [Bruins].”

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney deflected when asked earlier this week if the club was unhappy with the level of care McAvoy received in Montreal.

“The care that Charlie received here is what’s most important from the standpoint of where his health is at now,” Sweeney said. “That’s all that really matters.”

The Don strikes again! Going to the old non-denial denial well as is his wont

Well that must have been one hell of an infection seeing how he ended up in the hospital only 48 hours after he suffered the injury. I know bacteria can spread quickly but this stuff must have been especially aggressive. :(

Yep - and I think he still will be. If we can get Maroon last year and he was hurt, Freddy we can ship out. Too bad he got hurt (not for the trade reason just hate to see injuries to guys) but I am sure someone will take him. Lots of time for him to heal and help a teams push for the Cup. That's the way it has to be with the guys Sweeney moves out.

Today’s Globe:

Compounding the loss was an injury to Matt Poitras late in the second period.

As Poitras curled to leave his end without the puck, New York’s Brock Nelson shoved the young center toward the boards at the Islander bench. The gate was open, however, and Poitras smashed chest first into the opening.

Poitras was in clear distress and after being attended to by the medical team. He needed help as he gingerly walked down the Islander tunnel to the dressing room.

Bruins coach Joe Sacco had no update on Poitras, who, according to the team, suffered a lower body injury.

“It’s unfortunate. As a player you make sure the door is always closed so you don’t want to see that and you definitely don’t want to see the guy push him around the doors,” said Pastrnak. “So, hopefully Matty’s going to be all right.”

I think Elliot make a key point here
