Tiny Heiny

Couldn't find a Heinola thread so I made one.

Serioulsy what is the status of this guy, small size and lack of a burst of speed to close gaps hinders his abilty in the NHL.

Really surprised he wasn't moved, I'm sure he will be in the off season or even if the NHL is his best option. Heinola is already 24 and drafted six years ago!

They just favored Stan's size over Heinola, but Heinola was clearly the better player. He probably needs a lot more games to get back to 100. In his last few games he was playing quite well.

Unfortunately his last game was pretty bad iirc.

I just think wth the Jets overall D size there isn't a spot for him.

Size matters, especially in the playoffs.

Disagree, Tiny Heiny has been mostly sheltered, if he was playing as well as you think he would have stayed in the lineup!

True enough Stan has some stinkers but he's been okay most of the season, Tiny Heiny on the other hand was overwhlemed, the puck stayed in the Jets end when he played!

I guess some people just like watching Stanley bumble around out there night after night after night vs. trying to give a smaller, more skilled defenseman some rope to improve his game.

As I've said before, give Heinola the same rope as Stanley and he would've developed into a way better defenseman than Stanley has.

Have to agree with Sip here. Tiny Heiny is just not NHL caliber. He does have the size or strength to hold down that position. I would have traded him a long time ago.

At Heinola’s age, Stanley had played 95 NHL games. Heinola has played 54 and if he wasn’t injured to start the season the last two years, he would’ve played more.

That being said, I haven’t closed the book on Heinola for next year. He’s signed for cheap and I think Schenn is the perfect partner for him.

His value has been completely shot with how he has been handled this season. I doubt he even gets a 4th round pick at the draft. He should have been atleast part of the rotation on the 3rd pairing. One wonders if Stanley hadn't broken his foot at the beginning of the season a couple of seasons ago which opened the door for Samberg, would Samberg be in the Heinola spot today. Seems like there is no way to break into the Jets d-corps on merit and you almost have to be "lucky" to have the right combination of injuries at the backend at the right time to get your shot.

I pray Salomonsson doesn't suffer the same fate.
He's had chances and couldn't even beat out Stanley.

Ville - the new Petan/Niku... 😆

Would this development include growing 3-4 inches and gaining 25-30 Ibs through some sort of osmosis, what part of too small doesn’t compute!?

The games where Stan supposedly bumbled around the Jets were winning and only allowing 1-2 goals, pretty tough to fault any of the D

This is all mute anyways, when Pionk is back, Miller and Fleury will fight for the 6D spot and Stan and Tiny Heiny will fight over popcorn duty!

Ville should be busting his ass extra hard in practice right now. They're clearly giving Stan a break, now is his chance.
We may need Ville in the Stanley Cup Finals when half our D is injured.
Just noticed the irony in Stan maybe needed in the "Stanley" Cup Finals.
Maybe Stanley's time to shine will be in the "Stanley" Cup Playoffs.
