I'm confused....everyone here is acting like the 8x8.5 has happened when weeks words were could this be the contract because of a brinks truck...

It isn't saying that this is his contract...am i missing something?

The brinks truck thing is obviously a joke, but Weekes is tied in with the agent. He was teasing Timo to NJ for a solid month before it happened

Timo loves being around countrymen Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler, probably because they know countrywomen from the Swiss (and Timo is single so)

seems very fair for both sides... i figured it would be about 8x8

Hopefully he gets rolling in NJ... i found him pretty underwhelming in the games i saw him play in NJ this past season but im sure he just needs time to adjust to a new team

This is a fair deal for both team and player. Honestly, Timo's agent did well here because 8.5 million was the number Timo should be at to make his QO irrelevant. The agent still got that number with the QO no longer a factor. Good deal all around.

I understand why the Devils made the trade and are extending him but let's just say I'm really glad it wasn't the Canes. Solid player but I think he's quite overrated. And this was my opinion prior to him being traded to the Devils last year when it was rumored the Canes were heavily involved in trade talks too.

I'm almost positive this is just him baiting. Also disagree with the people saying 8.5 is some steal. It's not. It's a perfectly fair deal because of the beeeg tax. Meier should be in the Fiala, Bratt, Kyrou, Thomas range of high 7s/low 8s

Devils fans, does a contract like this remove them from Hellebuyck contention and a future contract with him?

It was always going to be hard to fit Helle in next year because the team is tight against the cap. Half the team is up for free agency this off-season.

Next off season they only have Mercer going to free agency and the cap increases a lot. They can afford to sign him as UFA but I don't know if that is what the team wants.
