Time to Sign Subban

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Okay I'm tired of Subban

First of all he's close to being poison in the locker room.

He's acting like a drama queen by not even training with his teammates.

He hasn't yet posted the numbers and he's acting like if he just single-handily got the team to the Stanley cup finals.

If I was Marc Bergevin I'd sign him then work a deal with the leafs in exchange for a first round pick. He'd probably eat the puck so much in T.O that he'd make the team miss the playoffs for an eight year in a row and since we would be left with nothing on the blue line that we would be just as bad but with two top 10 picks in the next draft.

And yet PK Subban is the drama queen.

At this point I want PK signed for 8 years.
This will a) stop the idiotic trade rumours of PK Subban, locker room cancer, for spare parts and a 3rd round pick, and b) we can have the refreshing change of nitpicking his play on the ice vs. all of the personal attacks and innuendo regarding how PK conducts himself as a person.

Player with no contract from Toronto skating in Toronto while awaiting a contract...

= he's pompous
= acts like he got his team to the SC finals
= trade him to the Leafs so they can miss the playoffs for 8 years
= the city of Montreal appalls him, etc.

Shake. My. Head.

Not sure where you get your information.

He is a free agent so he probably has no insurance if he works out with teammates and gets injured. I'm sure he'll be there the minute he has a contract.

Not sure where the "he's acting like" ********. He has an outgoing personality and you interpret that as a "drama queen" and being "entitled". Quite the reach there...:shakehead

What numbers!?

Drew Doughty - 316 GP - 43 G / 119 A / 162 PTS - 247 PIM
PK Subban - 160 GP - 21 G / 55 A / 76 PTS - 245 PIM

Not too shabby for a 23 year old who plays, and plays well in all three situations. Hey, maybe Tambellini can get his head out of his ass for a minute and turn him into an Oiler tomorrow. We'd gladly have him in Edmonton.

Never seen the numbers like that. PK is literally scoring at the same pace as Doughty. Very impressive. If only he was white, people would probably give him more slack. There, I said it.

I agree and I have wanted to say it more than once on these boards. Some people give him a hard time and I really cant figure out why sometimes...

If you ever wanted be truly disgusted, check out the comments on YouTube about him. It's also a great reminder that extreme racial hatred is alive and well. Even the low level stuff is appalling like those articles about his goal celebrations being too outlandish.

A very sad state of affairs, if racism is still out there, the way you mentioned...

This guy is an elite athlete, who loves playing for the Habs...he a brash and confident kid, with alot of talent! Sign him asap...

You definitely said it, and I'm here to applaud you for it.. Because it's entirely true.

In a twist of irony, I remember how much trash Bruins fans would spew regarding PK. It seems like a lot of that has subsided now that they've drafted Malcolm, I've even seen a good portion of their fanbase now say they'd welcome PK on the team and go as far as to say he's a great player.

Somebody had to say it, so good for you. Some of the comments about Evander Kane are also pretty big examples of this.

I disagree with the racial card. Other black players in the league don't get the same flack.

It's 3 things imo. First he's a Hab. How many Hab players actually get praised outside of Habs fans circles. And even then most players here get bashed by Habs fans themselves. Second he's flamboyant, well spoken and has a very confident, outgoing personality, something that is contrary to the stereotype hockey player and comes across as cockiness or being full of himself.(the mind-numbing tweets by hockey players during the lockout reinforced this notion, they aren't exactly brainiacs and are prone to childish emotions like jealousy). Third, he yaps a lot on the ice and gets caught up in after the whistle stuff a lot, which in my opinion, is something he needs to work on.

Overall, I think signing him is an absolute no-brainer. He's incredibly talented and still really young and his game is going to improve and refine quite a bit still. I personally am thrilled to have him on the team I cheer for. I think he has it in him to become one of the greats this organization has had. And that's saying quite a bit, because we've had some of the all-time best.

Great post, but I don't see how you could think race doesn't play a factor at all.. I mean Wayne Simmonds had a banana thrown at him for god's sake.

Yeah maybe I'm just being naive, or a part of me wishes that people would have their heads out of their ***** in 2013. I just don't think (and certainly hope) it has as much to do with it as those other factors. About Simmonds, was that in North America?

Doesn't he train in Toronto with that specific trainer who he swears by (forgot his name, the one from the videos with Gerry Dee)?

Maybe that's why he's there, couple more workouts. I realize that he's skating and probably not doing deadlifts ATM, but you never know. I have no problem with him being there until the contract is signed, but when it is...yeah...get your ass to MTL.

You guys think we'll see a PK-Markov pairing or Emelin-Markov? (PP aside.)

I believe it was in London, ONT in a pre-season game last year. It was one of London, Kitchener or Windsor. I want to say London though.

Just look at the way ~half the US treats their president. Racism isn't going anywhere. We are not a fully civilized human race. Every single country has bigots. I like the way PK (and other NHLers) have handled themselves. Shows a lot of character.

The ridiculous Doughty salary stuff was started by Dreger...and Bobby Mac pretty much shut it down the very next day on TSN 690 in a rare moment of contradiction between the TSN insiders.

The way I look at it is this. PK is a core member of our team. He logs big minutes, high quality minutes. Anything 5.5mill and under is fine by me (obviously the lower the better). As awesome as Pac and Price are, they weren't core players coming into their 2nd contracts. PK is a heart and soul player, which is what this team has been lacking since the departure of Koivu. 4 years or 4 months, doesn't matter to me because having PK with us is far better than against us. So what if the 4 years takes us to his UFA? that's 4 years of quality service. If the team does enough to show him we want to win then UFA won't scare me off of this deal.

He's at home under the advice of his agent, i'm 100% sure of that...what fans don't seem to get is that AGENTS run negotiations, NOT players.
