Keefe is not getting the most out of this roster and it might be time to go after a veteran coach like Barry Trotz? Someone who has won the Cup with talented players and someone who can bring some accountability.

Could have sworn the roster comparison was done and we concluded Keefe has always had cup winning capable rosters whereas Trotz did not. Naive to just focus on career records without a deep dive.

Pretty sure Trotz started with an expansion team and coached that team for almost 20 years. A team that was never a Cap team when he was coaching them. However, Keefe has had a Cap team with a star-studded roster. Good try though!

I wanted to turf Keefe after the season, and would have pursued Trotz like a bloodhound, so this isn’t early season “take it easy” stuff. We lost, again, you have to change something, only hubris tells you to roll it all back. There is no downside to a Trotz over Keefe consideration in my mind, none.

Anyways, it is early and we probably rebound, but philosophically YES please.

The fact that he lasted 11 years on an expansion team should say something about his quality, though I’d stop short of deciding whether he would be the right replacement for Keefe.

I don’t know if Keefe is The Problem but it doesn’t look like he has the answers.

Look at how absolute atrocious this history is.. Give keefe 20+ seasons and maybe he can win one time like Trotz did. All world and all average.

Can you imagine the outrage around here when Trotz has .646/.671/.610 type winning percentages and loses in the 1st round??

Keefe has great regular season stats but when you watch them game in game out the inconsistency is concerning and it looks like the stars coach themselves into hot stretches. Tonight's game is not unique, it's like they had no direction and then at the end of the game the stars just go wild.

Then the playoffs arrive and when coaching is on full display we get out maneuvered immediately.

Leafs should pick up and coast to the playoffs so a Keefe dismissal is more likely an offseason move. At the very least a Trotz move would be further down the line, but it would make a lot of people happy.
