Post-Game Talk: Time to finish the story

Terrible season from him, I was thinking he was shedding 100k from his new contract every game he played, then he flipped a switch and went beast mode. What a beauty.

We need to learn that the season is meaningless outside of making the playoffs.
The bolded should be posted on the top of every single page of every game day thread next year, ;)

For sure, Skinner kept his part of the deal at multiple points in this series also.

But our goaltending remains as volatile as it's ever been.
Stu is def inconsistent and for his sake I hope/expect it to improve with continued experience/maturity.

But the big tell I feel is that the team in front never really stopped believing I feel and despite Goals of Questionable Nature were largely unphased. This team is dialed in.

Yes, it's always painful to listen when ESPN or TNT brings in a new broadcast crew for the Oilers series and they don't know anything about the team.

"Knoblauch already loading up McDavid and Draisaitl." No, it's either 1) after the Oilers kill a penalty, or 2) the other team's bottom-6 just iced the puck.

"Bouchard is an adventure at both ends of the ice." In the playoffs he a positive on both offense and defense.

"McDavid and Draisaitl really focusing on defense tonight." They've been doing that for long time.
Sounds like the mains...

Bouchard is only slow if you assume he can't skate for reasons of passing the puck? Bouchard is an excellent skater.
That's was not my post All Oilers defence are exellent skaters read the post again I stated you know the Oilers defence is good when those 2 are their slowest dman out of the top 7

Bouchard skates better that Klingberg and frankly it's also just a mark of the group, very strong skaters. Kulak is a amazing, Nurse can skate for days and days, and Walman is just so much better at hockey than Cody Ceci it's like they're playing different sports.

I have Bouchard at 4 in this group, but that's all to say they all skate very well and they should be able to handle themselves against the forecheck from Florida.

After the jubilation of Connor scoring, my next thought was thank goodness Hintz didn't do something stupid and Connor ended up crashing into the boards. So I'll give Hintz credit for that, if it had been one of the other meatheads on Dallas, it could have turned out worse.

Thanks. Now both of my ankles are broken just from watching his footwork on that deke.

The most important thing is depending on how the SCF goes I might break 80000 likes by the end of June
That's awesome. I usually just take a passing glance at the likes, but it would be interesting to see the number of likes given on the site as well. I hope to hit 70K likes given by the end of the playoffs. I was always taught that it's better to give than to receive. ;)

I don't know if that second statement is completely true. Setting game 1 aside, the only weak goal Skinner gave up was the 3rd goal yesterday. I watched Bobrovsky give up a goal just as weak in their clinching game against Carolina. They happen to every goalie at some point.

I've been extremely hard on Skinner, but he looks a lot more calm and confident right now than he did last year. And frankly the D in front of him looks so much better as well.

Although that is true, we still don't know how Skinner responds if the Stars jumped on us for a few shifts after the bad goal. After that goal went in we scored, then effectively played what amounts to perfect in front of him for the remainder of the period. He may very well have dissolved after that - we will never know.

The Stars have skill, but are really not all that scary to defend when they're desperate. On the other hand, the Panthers are less skilled than the Stars up front overall, but you know that clearing the zone and defending the net front is going to be a challenge when they're desperate. Skinner is going to have to fight off one or more of these flurries at some point, and he's going to have to step up in them.

I suppose, but he responded very well in other key moments of game 3 and 4 after Dallas tied it, and narrowed the lead to one. Not to mention he stood on his head in the 2nd period of game 3, and 1st period of game 4 where Edmonton probably deserved to give up 3 goals minimum.

Regardless, they have a nice fall back option in Pickard that they aren't afraid to go to.

you'd think NHL media is the worst possible media of all the media because it's so bad, sadly it's not

major panic sets in when folks stop digesting the media, big time panic, you know it's a lie but you still digest it to some extent.

"if you're starving you'll eat just about anything and convince yourself it's food..."

let's go hockey, canada's last hope. at least it isn't the maple leafs
