Sometimes goalies make big saves from prime scoring areas, the Oilers goalie makes far less than most.I mean, leaving the Stars' best sniper wide open in a prime scoring area wasn't going to end well. Those kinds of goals didn't happen last year.

Rishaug again missing the forest and the trees. The team didn't respond to Skinner getting bumbed but DID respond after Pickard got rolled. That might say something.Listening to GYB and I see the headline of the video is "Open Season in the Oilers Crease" so I think, oh finally their group is going to address the goaltending concerns, and instead it's Rishaug going on a rant about why the team didn't pound the Stars players after Skinner got bumped a few times and that's the big issue with this team. O....k
If that were McDavid or Draisatl at the other end of the ice in that scenario do you think they wouldn't have buried it?Sometimes goalies make big saves from prime scoring areas, the Oilers goalie makes far less than most.
fire bowman
I thought so too. Interesting observation. Its like we have hope in net now. Pickard made some stops as well to keep it only 4GA.Watched the game last night with a buddy who is more of a casual fan of hockey (huge soccer fan). He asked if the team’s bounceback play after Pickard was put in was them “sending a message”
Dumbfounding how management put their head in the sand all offseason and until the TDL about this
Him being incapable of breaking a stick does a good job of showing us the type of person he is honestly. As silly as that sounds.Rishaug again missing the forest and the trees. The team didn't respond to Skinner getting bumbed but DID respond after Pickard got rolled. That might say something.
I still think Skinner going up to the bench after being shit on a stick yet again and trying to break his stick in front of the players was performative. As in he cares or he's upset or something. He looks asleep half the time. That thing he does with his eyes trying to force them open is what most people do hauling a double shift on limited sleep. I bet this tosser is up every night playing MarioKart.
For decades I've kind of thougt this org is a social experiment on how inept an org can be in every possible way and still have fans beating down the doors and throwing their money at tickets. As if the offer sheet fiasco wasn’t enough:
- He has the nerve to lie to our faces about it, saying it wasn’t at all possible to match either of them
- In the same interview he seems to suggest that Podz and Emberson are adequate replacements
- Defends the worst goaltending of any playoff team, doesn’t do anything to address it, and gaslights the fans by saying he’s been surprised that fans in Edmonton are so critical of it (we wouldn’t be if it was good Stan)
- Trades for an injured player who might not even play until playoffs, and pays extra for retention
- To add salt to the wound our captain says this (exact quotes) after the deadline:
“In the summer we lost a lot of size”
“I feel like Colorado’s got a brand new team, 2 new goalies, a bunch of new forwards”
Bowman has been an altogether terrible hire with no redeeming qualities. If we don’t make it out of the 1st round this year I hope they Katz strongly considers stepping in and fixing this mess.
Futile.Him being incapable of breaking a stick does a good job of showing us the type of person he is honestly. As silly as that sounds.
Perfectly incapsulates him.
LOL I can bearly listen to GYB anymore. Those hosts need to get off Skinner's meat and pay attention to the stats of the games.Listening to GYB and I see the headline of the video is "Open Season in the Oilers Crease" so I think, oh finally their group is going to address the goaltending concerns, and instead it's Rishaug going on a rant about why the team didn't pound the Stars players after Skinner got bumped a few times and that's the big issue with this team. It's an org that for decades has always acted like the smartest guy in the room. The classic "six rings" remark really is the epitome of organizational arrogance that permeates throughout the team. The only thing this team has done right in the cap era was win draft lotteries, a reward for their years of utter incompetence. Not something they deserved or earned, something that was gifted to them because they don't know a thing about building a championship hockey team. You look at the team's history in drafting, trades, and signings and its a veritable encyclopedia on how to poorly run a hockey team. The Stars grabbed Oettinger, Robertson and Heiskanen in the 2017 draft. We got Yamamoto and Skinner. Really says a lot, doesn't it?For decades I've kind of thougt this org is a social experiment on how inept an org can be in every possible way and still have fans beating down the doors and throwing their money at tickets.
I smelled the stench around the Steve Kelly pick when the org could've just said Shane Doan as the home fans were chanting with the draft being here. That whole event was like a sonic message on how the org had completely jumped the shark. I almost expected this org to get the McDavid pick wrong.
This is a weird strawman. Skinner isn't facing McDavid or Draisaitl level players every time there's a prime scoring chance. If that were McDavid or Draisatl at the other end of the ice in that scenario do you think they wouldn't have buried it?

No, he's not. But in this specific scenario he was left to his own devices against Wyatt Johnston who's pretty damn good at scoring goals. You give skilled players that kind of space and they'll make you pay. Look no further than the GWG in the 4Nations Cup.This is a weird strawman. Skinner isn't facing McDavid or Draisaitl level players every time there's a prime scoring chance.
This is a very odd situation, I could understand if Skinner was some proven veteran goalie with a track record of success but he has never been very good or proven anything. The playoff run last year must be what they are leaning on but its not like he was consistently great then. When you look at how he moves, he looks lost. And he is getting worse. The only thing I can think of is he is a talented guy on his knees at something other than stopping pucks.
Yes it's big factor and we have discussed it all year...but right now there is nothing we can do, all we can do now is support this guy...wether it's deserved or not."The iceberg already hit, why are people discussing the iceberg, theres nothing we can do about the iceberg" haha. just kidding around, its no so bad. But jk aside people talk about it because its a huge X factor.
Well if he is convicted then a No-move-clause might be unnecessary.Sooooo, Carter Hart or bust in the offseason. Pending he is acquitted of course. Should come quite cheap, considering. Add him to Perry, Kane and Bowman...make us the ultimate villains...but potentially championship villains. I don't know...it's a hail mary that we might need to consider
You're a better guy than I am. With Skinner in net its got to the point of aggravating. Really if I didn't care so much about the team and the good players on this team I would be tempted to turn it off. Such a shame this is our starting goalie.Yes it's big factor and we have discussed it all year...but right now there is nothing we can do, all we can do now is support this guy...wether it's deserved or not.
I have already stated at the beginning of the season that with that level of goaltending (I took his numbers from last season including playoffs) the last team won a SC in the 80`s.(I took sv% for this research).
The org actually thinks, and has for a longtime, that Skinner is a fan favorite. They've used him in big splash advertising on their pages for tickets on website. This how deluded the Oilers are about what the fans want to be seeing. Large part of it is due to Skinner being one of the favorites here of the media. They just love the guy. They love talking to him. The media love Skinner more than the players do and half of me thinks its the media taking the piss treating Skinner like some kind of prize while asking Draisaitl why "he's so pissy".This is a very odd situation, I could understand if Skinner was some proven veteran goalie with a track record of success but he has never been very good or proven anything. it's clear that Bowman has no intention of helping this team win a cup.As if the offer sheet fiasco wasn’t enough:

Connor said all that? Holy crap I somehow missed that.- To add salt to the wound our captain says this (exact quotes) after the deadline:

Part of the problem is our goalie has most of the brain farts.Every team has brain farts, that's hockey, but it's amazing how the Oilers brain farts almost always end up in the back of their net.
This is exactly it Keith. It is a tale of two orgs as well. Stars draft well. It's an org that for decades has always acted like the smartest guy in the room. Think physical response is a pretty big concern.Paid Media is trying to make lack of physical response the biggest issue instead of blaming the goaltending knowing full well that Frederic and Kane will be back for playoffs and this wouldn't be an issue. All hail Bowman for his deadline acquisitions.
Goaltending will remain The issue!
