He made a great play and then a terrible play all in the span of half a second.

I'm calling it the Dougie Hamilton Maneuver
Lol yup.

The bat out of the air was great. The flubbing of the pass and decision to not clear was awful in that spot.

Great play followed by game killing one. Oh well

An Oblate Spheroid
Games like this is when I miss Ned's sweeper keeper role... No guarantee our results would have been better with him but he adds the extra element that really jives well with his current d-core.

A bunch of us could be wrong but it really didn’t seem like it.

watch a replay? Pesce stole the arial pass on the 2 on 1, put the puck out of harms way and Aho tried to blow past with the puck for a 2 on 1 and it got stolen for a breakaway. Pesce missed Ahos drop pass on the neutral zone to start it, but he made the difficult defensive play to save it. Then Aho missed the clear.

I did. That back pass was a shit play by Pesce. He could have skated forward and exited the zone but that bounce pass went in Aho’s skates and he couldn’t control it. That’s not on Aho. That’s on Pesce making a shitty pass and handcuffing your teammate when you’re in the defensive zone. Pesce was atrocious in OT

I mean we were only missing our leading scorer (Tro), one of our best wingers (Turbo), and our starting goalie who at least at the end of the last game was still leading the league in GAA (Mrazek) for basically half the season

But yeah sure go ahead and say our first place team doesn't know anything about playing well despite high impact personnel losses this year.

making a pass? He’s getting the puck out of dodge on a 2 on 1 into a harmless spot on the ice with the guy that is his responsibility in front of him no closer to the puck than he is. Aho shouldn’t have even been over there to be honest.

You think he was just randomly banking it off the boards behind his back without having an idea of the situation? How is that getting it out of dodge? If his goal was to clear the puck out of safety that’s one of the worst ways you could do it. He knew Aho was behind and he thought that was a fancy way to transition. It’s just a mega dumb move in OT in your own zone when there’s still pressure from the other team.

I don’t know why I’m even arguing, 3 on 3 isn’t even hockey.

In a game that featured a playoff-like buzz throughout, things really escalated midway through the third period, as Killorn laid a heavy hit on Martin Necas that was met with Jake Gardiner dropping the gloves with Killorn.
The result of the chaos was an instigating penalty on Gardiner served by Nino Niederreiter, which the Canes killed off, and also an extended absence for Necas who went back to the locker room. Necas did return in overtime, a great sight to see for Carolina.
After a pretty fast-paced overtime period, matching the overall energy of the game, Gourde scored off a rebound to make it two points for the Lightning.
Neither team will get much time to recover from the up-tempo affair, as the Canes and Lightning will get right back at it Tuesday night.
Recap: Canes come back to secure point, fall in OT to Lightning
