For those talking about Thomas:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Said to be content/happy living with his family in Colorado, Thomas not interested in fulfilling final contract yr with BOS/any other team.

I think scrivens has played well on the Marlies and I think he could come in and play very well for the Leafs too and although I do like Luongo, next year if the Cap goes down, there may be a few players that could come on the market, as some teams will want to get under the Cap and that will help us even more, like maybe a big center.

Since Peter Chiarelli said a few months ago they would suspend Tim Thomas for the season does and not have his salary count against their cap, does that mean when the 2012-2013 season is over he would be a UFA or he needs to finish out the 1 year left on his contract whenever that would be?

The best example I can think of is when Evgeni Nabokov didn't want to report to the Islanders after being claimed off waivers, however he still owed them 1 year and was wondering if the same rule applies to Thomas?

I believe Thomas would be a UFA, they need to toll (like the Isles did) his contract for him to stay under contract.

Should we land a big dog, I can already hear a crew going on about how "he's doing it to save his job" as opposed to, you know, taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves.

I prefer Thomas, but his Anti-gay views probably ban him from Burke even attempting to sign him.

Burke won't trade for Thomas after comments he made against gay marriage. So really, why is Thomas even an option. At this point its Luongo or status quo unless someone becomes available out of the blue.

If Burke is a real business man he can put his emotions aside for the good of the team/business.

With that said I would rather Thomas as he is cheaper and fits better if we think Reimer is the goalie of our future.

How about James Reimer for our starter:amazed:

I see him having a nice bounceback year.

NO MORE REIMS!!!!!

Thomas is sitting out the year(unless he has recently said different) so I don't even know why he is being suggested.

I don't want Luongo either.

Backstrom or Kiprusoff would be good for just a year or two.

We should have got Vokoun for what PIT paid.

Holtby and Bernier aren't proven but are better potentail than what is in our pipeline.

If FLA is ready to hand the reins over to Markstrom than lets take a shot at Theodore. Atleast his contract isn't 10yrs long.

Backstrom won't be available, given Harding's unfortunate situation.

I like Bernier. He'd be affordable, likely immediately better than Reimer, and potential to be elite.

There was talk that Dean Lombardi wants a 1st round pick for Bernier and that makes no sense. Biggest reason why is he has less career games played then James Reimer and there is no chance any NHL team would give up anything like that for potential. I always thought the market for Bernier was set when Tampa Bay traded for Andres Lindback.

Even with Hardings diagnosis I can't find anywhere that says he won't be playing.

I am hoping they want to go with Hacket anyways.

He did ok in a few games last year. When they've got Parise and Suter for 9 years it isn't like they need Backstrom to "WIN NOW" or anything. Although they have a potent looking lineup, if Heatley regains form, headed into this year.
Put Reimer in the offer and see what happens. May be offer to take Heatley back to sweeten the deal.
