Ask anyone in the league if they would trade Matthews for Stutzle. You will get 0 yes replies.

Shows how many people hate the leafs. This poll is trash. Not 1 reason to ever take Stutzle over the best goal scorer in hockey. Zero.
That's a very reductive way of looking at this poll. At the time the question was asked, Matthews was coming off a down year production wise and Stutzle was coming off a breakout year. Contracts included, the answer was definitely not 0. Obviously perspectives have changed since Matthews is back playing excellently and Stutzle is struggling on a dogshit team.

Like in May of this year I'm sure everyone thought Tage Thompson's deal was a steal, but now that's probably not a universal opinion.

When things change, opinions do too.

It’s pretty obvious if you’re looking at things objectively that people are comparing Matthews down year with Stutzle’s career year. Anyone thinking Matthews is a 40 goal scorer hasn’t been paying attention. Like, at all.

The problem that people are pointing out is that those people aren’t arguing objectively. They are just heavily biased against the Maple Leaf player.

No one can ever admit this, of course, but it’s plain as day to the rest of us

I don't think that poster was looking at things objectively.

Regardless, while I agree there are certainly posters we just try and shit on the leafs and ignore facts just to stir the pot, one also has to acknowledge the giant target leaf fans and the media creates for themselves. The constant hyperbole is asking to be shot down.

Head to Head (Dec 27):
Stutzle + Tarasenko - 0G 3A +3
Matthews - 0G 1A -2

What about the season?

Stutzle + Tarasenko 55 pts
Matthews + Reaves 43 pts

It’s pretty obvious if you’re looking at things objectively that people are comparing Matthews down year with Stutzle’s career year. Anyone thinking Matthews is a 40 goal scorer hasn’t been paying attention. Like, at all.

Most people are also not brain dead and realize that Stutzle "career year" was his 20 y/o season... and surely you do, you're way too smart not to.

The problem that people are pointing out is that those people aren’t arguing objectively. They are just heavily biased against the Maple Leaf player.

No one can ever admit this, of course, but it’s plain as day to the rest of us

And yet, OBJECTIVELY

Last 10 games : Matthews >> Stutzle
The 100 games prior : Stutzle > Matthews

Guess I missed this thread. Surprised it’s even close, every owner in the league forces their GM to take Matthews. He’s one of the biggest names in the league, exciting, sells tickets, and the production likely leans towards him by a little bit over the next few years still.

Yeah if the comparison was one to one, but it is not.

Also, not sure I'd describe Matthews as an overly exciting player.

What do the Sens have again? The fact that they ‘almost’ won a cup? If you lose in the finals you win as many cups as the team that finished dead last in the regular season.
If you lose in the 1st round you advance just as far as a team that finished dead last in the regular season.

The fact people are still arguing for Stutzle shows people will hate the Leafs regardless. Leafs could win 10 cups in a row, they would still lose polls to bottom feeders on here with the same names discrediting achievements.

Yeah this one isn’t even close. Maybe if Stutzle plays a postseason shift eventually we can have a real discussion.

Classic case of HF fawning over the new shiny toy.

HF showing its stupidity once again, one guy has almost as many goals as the other has total points and now we're grasping at straws talking about head to head performance this season lol

Has nothing to do with new toy and more so the obsession over cap space that is almost never utilized correctly as well as a bias towards a specific player/team.
