Thunderbirds 2024 25

Nikita Alexandrov is an NHL player. Hope there's a place for him in St. Louis next year

Two scores in last two minutes and Springfield beats Providence 3-2.
I don't know... I think he is a classic tweener like Peca, MacMac, former Blue Tyler Pitlick, and Martin Frk. His pace isn't there, but it is good enough at this level. Maybe a team like the Bruins has a place for him to see if it may work.

In the few games he has played in the NHL, he looked like he was intimidated (hesitant and indecisive). But his AHL stats make it looks like he can make it with the Blues.

Maybe next season will be the turning point.

He is a center and we could use him.

Stats don't really mean that much at the A, they do to an extent. It's much more likely that Alexandrov is just an Adam Gaudette type than an actual player. He'll bouce around, maybe he'll have a decent stretch of games here and there or maybe he'll find a nice career in Europe, but he's one of those tweener types.

He also isn't even playing center.

There really isn't a spot for Alexandrov in the NHL Roster. He won't knock any of the top 6 forwards out and the bottom 6 has loads of chemistry. Then we have both Snuggy who will be a NHLer next season and Dvo who might be one as early as next season as well.

Aside from whether he’s an nhl player (and I am dubious), he’s not a center. He has been playing wing in ahl.

I completely and totally forgot that Pitlick was on this roster for a season. I was about to roast you for making it up, but no… 60 some odd games. Go figure.

Anyways, Alexandrov was the very last player to sign last summer, and he ended up with a league min (or around that) 1-year contract. I highly doubt he sticks around for much longer, even if it would be nice if he did. Maybe we can flip his rights for another similarly-positioned prospect in a different org, but I kind of doubt it.

Very pleased with Flo hockey. Ordered through my Roku account. They have the Thunderbird games live and archived.

I'll pay for the month through April 30 then cancel unless the T-Birds go deeper into the playoffs.

Since you mentioned Roku, I will mention the downside to FloHockey for some. If you don't have Apple TV, Roku or FireTV, it is tough to watch on a TV. It is available on Amazon, Roku, Apple, and Google. No app on game consoles, through cable boxes or on smart TVs that don't use those. So I cannot watch it on my big TV, which is an LG or my Samsung in the bedroom. I watch it on my smaller Toshiba running Fire TV.

Your other options are to buy a Roku box, cast from your phone or watch on your phone.

I have mine on Fire TV. Can't complain too much, but I'm older now and that's what we do....

Ellis let in a muffin late in the game and it cost them. Overall, it wasn't a bad performance. Stancl is looking more comfortable. I like that he looks for a passing option and doesn't just flip the puck to an area and hopes somebody gets to it. Springfield gives the puck up a lot that way as they are younger and don't win many board battles with older more experienced players. Kaski was back. Nice to have his speed and passing ability back in the lineup. Otto finally got rewarded for all of his hard work. He is just a smart good player. I'm curious what kind of year he has next year.

The Sabres have some good prospects. Wahlberg looks good out there though his point totals this year don't show it. He was all over the net front and making plays. I would love to pilfer Helenius from them too. He was buzzing all over the ice. Rosen and Ostlund also were very noticeable.

Does the AHL app track game by game time of ice? I can’t seem to find it on the box scores.

There's something to be said about Alexandrov scoring at over a point per game this year and being a gifted offensive player in the AHL for a couple years now. Plus, he only just turned 24 in September. He's obviously too good to play in the minors, and although he has had VERY mixed showings in the NHL, I don't see why he hasn't gotten an opportunity for one more run here. In recent viewings in the NHL, he has been super timid and not sure what to do, but with a coach like Monty, maybe he can unlock some potential. If nothing else, raise his stock so you have an asset to trade.

I hope the Blues give him another shot at the NHL. He needs to get over his stage nerves. Maybe he just needs to score a couple of goals to get confidence.

Several forum members told me Alexandrov is not playing center. I don't get to see the Thunder birds in person. But the Thunder birds' web site lists him as a center. You'd think they would know.

You'd think, right? But no, they don't know.

Center or not, I think this year has earned him an opportunity to play up in the NHL for a few games. The biggest issue is that we have a lot of forward depth and even for a proven NHL player like Texier, it’s been hard for him to get in. I think based on what we know now, I’d rather have Joseph or Texier in the lineup, but I do want to see Alexandria one more time before I’ve come to a decision.
