I keep hearing names thrown out as getting s shot with the big club. There is no one more deserving and it isn’t even close. He is the Thunderbirds MVP. Colten Ellis is a monster in goal. It is VERY rare that the T birds are not outshot. He has been by far their most consistent and best performer every game he is in. He is the most NHL ready player.

The second goal Robertsson made a nice steal and chip to start it and nice pass to Otto and Otto to McGing…but it was clearly offsides. Solid game versus a bigger faster team. Danielson is a stud. Have a right handed Finn defenseman I would like to have too Tuimisto? He's a good player. Really entertaining game. Not much room. Red wings have some talent.

I think at this point it is almost a certainty he will be a bottom 6 NHL player assuming he becomes one. No amount of further AHL time will change that. 22 is not young for a forward prospect. I think that there would be potentially more benefit from playing a checking line role in the NHL and adapting his game to that. If he is unplayable, you can send him back down. He has NHL tools and plays at a high pace.
I’d like to see him play well as an AHL 3C first before ever considering trying him as an NHL 3 or 4C…

I’m not ready to write off Dean yet but he just needs to play some games, hopefully produce and go from there. I don’t remotely see him as a legit call-up option at this time.

Laferriere out, Andonovski in. Seems like Andonovski has a bit more bite to his game than Mathias does. It also perhaps keeps Konowalchuk from playing Laffy over someone like Stenberg who -- from the lines SPR has been putting out -- has been spending some time on the 4th line.

I'm honestly surprised that (a) we kept Laferriere around for as long as we did, and (b) that we were able to get absolutely anything for him.

Konowalchuk spread all the talent over 4 lines and is deploying the lines quite evenly(-ish). Springfield isn't playing with a 'typical' 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th line. For example, Kaskimaki played with Dean and Peterson on the 4th line yesterday while he's been one of the guys who has been played most.

Laferriere was benched last game and wasn't one of the best 12 forwards. This was a change of scenery trade to give Laffy some AHL playing time somewhere else for a guy who could slot in in case Springfield needs some grit (or has some injury issues). He will be gone at the end of the season anyway, probably like Laferriere if he would've stayed.

Little time for Laffy or Dickinson now that everyone’s healthy. Liked the lines last night. Did well to play Grand Rapids that way as they roll 4 solid lines. That will be a tough playoff match up. One of the better teams I have seen, but they have some mojo issues as they didn’t seem to want to win that badly when Springfield was up by a goal and then two.

One hour or so after this post, Laffy was traded. Good call. But now where does the new guy go? lol

PuckPedia says Laferriere is a center. Did he actually play center in the AHL for the most part?

(When he was playing, I mean. It seems from the sounds of things that he didn't get a lot of playing time.)

What did he do the rest of the game? His linemates both deserve another shot before he does. Alexandrov has been red hot. He had two goals. I can’t think of another highlight during the game. Hoffmanesque game for Dvo. I think he won maybe two faceoffs. You have a good comp in Bolduc right now and he is clearly the better player on the forecheck, making passes, stealing pucks, and playing D. Dvo may have been sick too. Very passive last night. He wasn’t holding on the puck trying to make a play. The team really needed him to just take the puck and finish the other team. No one did. So they ended up losing that game. Not as well as he has played lately.

That is what happens when your MVP doesn’t play. The D played well all things considered. Callin and Malmstrom stepped up. Concern is Loof went down in the third holding his shoulder.

I guess that we will call up Dvorsky at some time in the season, not because he's ready, but to see where he's at.

To be honest, I really hope Army is working the phones to move some redundant players. We're not going to make the playoffs so I'd rather give a couple of young guys a few games to show what they got instead of playing Sundqvist, Walker, Joseph and potentially Texier, Suter and Faksa (if the Blues aren't planning to resign him). Alexandrov should probably be the first one to be called up to see if we want to keep him next season.
