If Vladdy walks for nothing, there will be a lot of angry Blue Jays fans and heads will roll.
They haven’t yet. But I’ve said for a while now that Shapiro and Atkins will leave us with absolutely nothing when they are gone next year. No vlad, Bo, the window never opened and now the end for the era is about to be gone. Sad times to be jays fans. Now we’ll be just good enough to not move them at the deadline lol

DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays hope to reach a long-term contract with star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before he reports to spring training, his deadline to reach a deal.

Guerrero is eligible for free agency after the World Series and says he won’t negotiate after he reports, which is expected to be on Tuesday.

“We’ve worked extremely hard on keeping Vlad here for a long time,” Toronto general manager Ross Atkins said Thursday. “The desire is strong and we will continue to do that. We will never close the door.”

Guerrero has a $28.5 million salary and would be among the top free agents next fall. Juan Soto set a record this offseason when he signed a $765 million, 15-year contract with the New York Mets,

“Everything needs to be factored in, but it needs to be factored in historically and not reactively,” Atkins said. “Being disciplined to our valuations, being disciplined to how we think about building the best possible roster, there’s so many variables.”

A four-time All-Star, Guerrero hit .323 with 30 home runs and 103 RBIs last season, finishing sixth in American League MVP voting.

“We all want Vlad to be here,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. “You just keep working toward it and hopefully it happens. He’s got a huge career ahead of him, wherever that may be. We hope it’s here.”

Atkins has said the team has no intention of trading Guerrero.

working hard lol....maybe if they were a government employee. Unfortunately they waited to long to commit longterm to Vlad before Ohtani and Soto got insane deals making others think they can get close. Ohtani is a rare case with a lot defered plus his own market that pays for his contract with advertisments then Mets owner was insane. Just give him 12 years for 400 and be prepared to eat the last couple years. Same for Bichette give him 12 years for 350ish to lower the AAV

This front office is a curse man! These guys have botched this whole process big time. I can’t imagine how they can explain to Rogers that they could have signed him for half that what he’s commanding right now. This management team sucks!

Losing Bo would be one thing. I kinda expected he would be gone after he looked kinda checked out last season on top of his ideas for how/where he should play and where the Jays want him do appear to be different.

Vlad on the other hand, would be a pill too hard to swallow. The first honest to god, grown in the organization superstar bat this team has had since Delgado. And while yeah Delgado was allowed to walk, he was 33 rather than 26 when it comes time for Vlad to sign his big boy contract.

I would probably watch a lot less knowing he walked out the door on top of the farm being a barren wasteland.

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette said Friday he and then team have not talked about a contract extension that would keep him in Toronto long-term.

Bichette and star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are each entering their final season of club control and will hit free agency next winter unless extended.

“No, we haven’t had any talks,” Bichette said Friday in Dunedin, Fla., via MLB.com's Keegan Matheson, “but from my perspective, we all grow up wanting to be one of those guys that has an opportunity to stay with an organization for their entire career. I’m just focused on what I’ve got to do this year to help the team win and be the best version of myself. Whatever happens will happen.”

“Vladdy is one of my best friends. We’ve had tons of conversations like that,” Bichette said. “We’ve talked about playing together forever since he was 18 and I was 19. That’s still a goal of ours.”

Bichette had his worst season in 2024, struggling with multiple calf injuries that limited him to just 81 games. He hit a career-low .225 and had a .598 OPS with just four home runs and 31 RBI, a puzzling drop-off from his usual consistent self that had seen him hit at least .290 every year since debuting with Toronto in 2019.

Bichette was an All-Star in 2023 and had reached the 20-homer mark in three consecutive seasons before last year.

“Bo. ... You guys will see Bo,” manager John Schneider told reporters Thursday. “Bo looks like Bo, which is really, really refreshing. We’re talking about adding a bat and adding [another] bat, but we kind of operated without one of our best bats last year in Bo. Having him back is going to be big.”

Ross Atkins has to be a master manipulator if he’s able to keep his job despite signing Vladdy because by doing so it cost 150 to 200 million more than it would have had he proactively locked him up a few seasons earlier.

Market has gone way up now and he lost out big here!

Why would Vladdy have signed that kind of deal a few years ago? Atkins should be blamed if Vlad doesn't get extended, but I don't see why Vladdy would have signed such a team friendly deal at any point.

"Well I think he knows he was born in Montreal and he's Canadian. The fans love him there I want to see that happen I'm confident they'll figure it out. When you have a whole country following you its different. Imagine how different it is when you have a whole New York Yankees fanbase following you across the world compared to other teams, and the Blue Jays are the only other team that have that size of a following. Its a blessing, I know he understands what that means, and he is definitely weighing that in in his decision making. They're all trying to make an extension happen and I really hope that it does."

Shatkins is actually going to f*** this up arent they????
They already have. Hopefully, we have a bad year so they are forced to trade him for as many pieces as we can get. He will not be a Jay past this season. I'd prefer if they just traded him now if we could get a stronger return.

There should be not discussion about IF Springer will be our leadoff hitter. He should be locked into the 8/9 spot all year
