I won't go as far as to call it "FAKE" ... but it's NOT the CURRENT THROWBACK jersey, as the current one has a REEBOK tag across the top back NOT RBK or LOGO anymore.

I know. I bought around a year ago. I've just never known if it was fake or not. The only thing I've noticed different from most of the ones I've seen for sale is the fabric the NHL shield is on is yellow and most other ones are purple

I added a 2nd PIC to my post ... that YELLOW fabric the NHL shield is on is CORRECT ... Purple would be FAKE ...

FAKE import knock-off ... but for $33 ? Hmmmmm ;) not too bad ... just gotta remove the SC patch on it

Well, i didnt get any Kings jersey :). I got a habs and stars jersey. But yeah, purchase them at your own risk  I just can't afford 100-150 jerseys

I got mine off ebay and its my favorite jersey. I don't know if its fake or not tho.

It's not fake but it's not real. The only real throwback Reebok Jerseys are game worn ones right now. It kind of complicated as to what it is but I will explain. There are Reebok jerseys out there that are authentic Reebok jerseys just not the ones worn on ice. There are a few sellers that buy these uncrested jerseys and then get a crest and sew it on. And then do the lettering.

I saw a fan on TV tonight in one of the front rows that was wearing the Reebok purple/gold jersey. #32. I figured it was a game worn.

You all are correct about the gold fabric under the NHL shield logo. Purple there is a dead giveaway for a fake.

looks to be legit. the customization on the back is off just a bit though possibly. you could find other more current pics of Anze to compare against. this is after the first use in VAN and they gave the jersey to Simmer the next day in CAL. the numbers on the back of yours look slightly smaller and closer together.

image removed due to size....it's on Insider if you dig for it, or google simmer kopitar

According to this:

The numbers should be centered vertically between the shoulder yokes and the gold band at the bottom. Yours doesn't appear that way.

Still looks very nice though.

Look again, there is a section of PURPLE below the YELLOW band, though on the AUTHENTIC GAME worn THROWBACKS in the pic it's CURVED up at each side,
and his 'Vintage' style jersey is STRAIGHT across the bottom. Now that I see that, actually looks like someone took an old CCM VINTAGE and put the Reebok logo on it ?

He has the Reebok cut, but it's not tapered like they are shown in the photo.

It is tapered. Not the same as in those other pics tho so i don't know. I took another picture.Doesn't really matter i guess lol. I got it signed by simmer because for some reason he was in my town for a golf tourny and i had nothing else for him to sign.

Just saw this over at Ice Jerseys.

Hi everybody,

The Los Angeles Kings for the second straight season created one set of Purple Vintage Throwback jerseys to wear on their legend nights.

They wore the set of purple and gold jerseys with the old Kings crown crest for the first time on Feb. 23, when they honored Ian Laperriere and defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 4-1.

They will be wearing the set again Saturday night, when they honor Kelly Hrudey prior to their game vs. the Calgary Flames.

We are almost finished with our request calls, so if you are interested in one please call me toll-free at 888-463-4472 or send an e-mail to [email protected]

If you are attending the game at Staples Center Saturday night, you can collect your jersey that night. I will be manning the MeiGray display in the main concourse and will be authenticating the set in the Kings' dressing room immediately after the game.

If any jerseys remain available after the game, I will post them on line next week at www.meigray.com

Thanks, Barry

I have to say I really hate being a fan out of area. Get no choice if I want to buy this jersey and still must spend a mint for it most likely.

I'll have to settle for my authentic 1979 Butch Goring jersey :p:

It's Prairie Gold instead of Forum Blue, but I can live with that....

If it isn't Goodman & Sons - it doesn't count :sarcasm:

How'd you get a hold of one of those?

I remember when Maska, then FILA, made the Kings jerseys during the 80s.

Picked mine up off eBay. Might be fake. Not sure. Either way, I'm happy with the purchase.

I bought myself a present at the beginning of the 1979/80 season. Goodman has a small, funky store that (if I remember) was underneath one of the freeways downtown.

I've been offered some very serious cash for it on several occasions - but it isn't going anywhere :naughty:

Since they are retiring the current 3rd jersey after this season, I'm hoping the "throwbacks" become the permanent 3rd jersey next season, hopefully leading to the manufacture and sale of replica/authentics.

Not having them for sale now is ridiculous.

I think that was the idea heading into this season, until the lockout delayed plans. Hopefully what you said is true and they do release replicas to the fans next season. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing them use the throwbacks more often, say 10-12 home games.

Tuning in to the game last night, I thought I was watching a game from a couple of seasons ago since I had thought they retired the black/purple crown jerseys.

Meigray has released some of the Forum Blue/Gold throwback jerseys, and as expected, they are grossly overpriced.

They have a Mike Richards jersey going for $2,500.

Wonder if anyone is foolish enough to pay that.

Even a game worn jersey should not be fetching more than $250. IMO.

You can't even buy the jersey and have it customized for that. The Edge authentic jerseys are around $300 retail and another $80-100 to customize. And yes there are those that will pay it sadly. I would probably go $600-700 but no more.

Was just looking at the prices and because these jerseys aren't avail any other way they are charging a premium. Drewiske is twice what his normal jersey is. Unbridled capitalism at it's best or worst, depending on how you want to look at it.

the black/purple thirds will be worn once more this season, then officially retired. they said something last night about there being a 50% sale at the team store coming up on all gear that is black/purple.

the legends jerseys beginning next season will become the official 'third' for LA, so we will see them more.

this also means the chance of them actually being available to the public will be dramatically increased. all H, A and thirds are available currently.

the bigger issue currently is the shift of production from Indonesia back to Canada. the new Edge 2.0's were supposed to be available this season, but still hasn't happened. for most teams it seems they are still trying to blow out the existing inventory, before cranking up production.

for LA it doesn't matter because everyone is out of LA 2.0s after the run last spring. so we wait. all you see floating around now are the replicas and a few Indo-Edges that come up from time to time.

while this is a total PITA for us, the good sign is Rbk has completely **** up the league's jersey sales. they are losing sales, because they haven't met demand and are costing the league and PA money. i hope when the jersey contract comes up (i think it is 2016), the league goes back to CCM as it should be. Reebok needs to go back to making sneakers and stay out of the hockey business

and no $250 should get you a jersey. if you want an authentic and fully customized you are looking at $300 without blinking. sometimes the game worns are cheaper, than buying a new jersey and having it done. i bought a '98-'99 C Johnson and it cost right around $250 when all was said and done.

the replica '85 Simmer i just had finished cost $175. that was for just a replica. the customization cost more than the jersey itself

Hate to break it to you Whiskeypete, but Reebok owns CCM (both are part of the adidas group). :(
If you haven't noticed, the refs don the CCM logo on the back of their uniforms.

The only options the NHL has to consider when their contract with Reebok expires is Nike, who make the international hockey jerseys. Not sure if another company will enter the fray, like Under Armour, but I figure they don't have the funds to obtain the NHL license.

I'm still trying to decide which player to get for the new thirds once they become available.

I have a black/purple with Kopitar and a white Richards (current).

Was thinking of a doughty one when he signed long term, now I may go with carter. Maybe brown if he signs an extension this summer. :dunno:
