do the right thing, buddy :sarcasm:

Ya I know, kids are expensive. Not looking forward to that.

But we're lucky. We both have good jobs, and enough family support that we should be ok. Still expecting to feel the pinch at times though. College tuition is gonna be a bitch when we get to that.

It's our intention to try and explain the reasoning behind our decisions, and avoid lying to him. But I'm fully aware that we might end up doing so anyway just out of frustration or a lack of time. If he's anywhere near as curious as I was as a kid, he'll keep asking why long after I have run out of answers.

When you run out of patience or time what we've always done is say that we will discuss the "why" when we can do so and answer all the questions then. In the short term please listen to our request and we can change things for the future if we need to. Kids tend to see things as much bigger than they really are. There is always another play date, party, or visit to the grandparents or Disney trip. Doing something today doesn't mean it cannot be changed for tomorrow. Giving the kids perspective as they grow up is helpful. You are going to do great. The first four or five months were tough. Once they can learn to start expressing themselves through something other than silence or crying it will be much easier to figure things out. The next challenge is once they get mobile you will be surprised at the things you have lying around in your house they want to play with - honey, how'd this active land mine wrapped in barbed wire get under the couch? Oh, the dogs brought that in and I thought it was a turtle. OK, I had to take it away from the baby. You call the demolition team and I'll take the baby and go to Walmart since we need more diapers.

For when he's mobile, I'm more worried about the mischief he will get up to with the dogs. My full husky in particular is not trustworthy.

I figure given all of the controversy surrounding the Blackhawks situation what is occurring in our own back yard merits a post, and this seems to be the only appropriate thread to make it in.

Wall HS football hazing investigation: How it unfolded and what we know so far.

I have reasonably deep ties to this community and the Star Ledger's reporting of this is nothing short of disgraceful.

You're going to report gang rape as hazing and lead in to your second section of the article with "What it means for the football season"

Is this central Texas? f*** you.

This is a horror story and more details are coming out soon, hopefully.

If theyre trying to keep the offending party's name a secret, allowing the rest of the team to play will pretty much reveal who they are.

Throw the book at these kids and excommunicate the parents from the community

Why does this seem to be a way too often recurring theme in football, sexual assault with a broom handle is the type of story that pops up almost at least once a year throughout the country.

Between awful stuff like this plus concussions at a young age there's no surprise that youth football numbers are way down.

I know there are other sports that have hazing issues as well but it seems more common in football from what we hear of at least.

My neighbor's dog ran away this morning, and my wife happened to see that he was loose from our front window. We ran out with some treats and tried to chase him down, but he ran away from us down the street.

Then we ran into another neighbor we had not met before, who had a leash and more treats, and was also trying to catch the dog. Together we were able to track the dog down a street over, catch him, and put the leash on him to walk him back.

The neighbor who lost the dog just had a baby, and was in no shape to chase the dog, who had gotten out because her mom had accidentally left their front door open. She was very grateful that we got her dog back.

Afterward I had a nice conversation with my newly-acquainted co-dog wrangler neighbor about dogs and babies. In almost 5 years living here I had never talked to him before, but now I had a good reason to.

A heartwarming little story about how dogs can bring us together in unexpected ways, even when they're being jerks.

I forget the context of sharing that clip. It was meaningful for historical importance and it was probably George’s last big public performance in the US. This Gimme Shelter was just some live noodling with Mick Taylor. Everyone has their own favorites but to me the best version of the Stones was the Mick Taylor era and it wasn’t close for me.

starts out with drinking!!! and bad harmonica and actual onstage guitar tuning ….

That's "Zakk's" real name and he's from Jackson NJ .. before he got the gig with Ozzy he was playing bars and clubs in NJ with his band Stonehenge. He was doing highschool "battle of the bands" then too.

There was a rumor back then that someone associated with Ozzy saw him at a Battle of the Bands and had him audition for Ozzy to replace Jake E. Lee

they are one of the few bands that I think might do better in the bigger arenas. I’ve never seen any video of their small club gigs where I’ve been that impressed compared to their better big gigs. This was definitely their best era as a band to my ears.

It tends to get easier over time. Maybe you just learn to deal with it. We have more or less rolled one out into the world and he still wants to talk to us so I think we’ve done ok. At some point you learn what’s important to your kids and what you have to do to get them from point A to point B. Just be willing to communicate with them about things that they aren’t happy about. If your answer to their question of “why?” is to say “because I am the parent” that isn’t good enough. Explain the decision. Explain what the reasonable and unreasonable choices are why yours makes sense. No shortcuts when it comes to speaking with them or spending g time with to them on what they like and everything ends with support and a reminder you have their back.

Yah. I'm currently assisting on 7 missing Calculus assignments after trying to do physics all last night with my 17 yr old buddy. Wouldn't trade him for anything, but he has currently split with the car rather than do this homework... this whilst the 15 yr old lady is talking to nobody after breaking up with a boy.

So, the 'easier' part is well... I don't know. Bigger kids, bigger problems - but hey, it's one hell of a fun ride if you can get your sleep/drink on once in a while.
