So we got tickets to see Ringo in Tuscaloosa in June. We’ve never seen him live before so this should be fun. In addition to me and their wife we will have our middle and youngest with us and our middle son’s girlfriend. Really excited. For the youngest one it’s a likely cap on his classic rock experiences with the possible exception of Robert Plant and David Byrne if he wants to see them. Someday he will be in a very small club that has seen a bunch of these acts long after most of the audience is dead and buried.

That's awesome! I always wanted to see him and my wife got me tickets for his show in 2022 at the Beacon in NY. We were upstairs, but who gives a shit. I was THERE. :) His All-Starr band was Colin Hay from Men At Work, Steve Lukather from Toto, Hamish Stuart from Average White Band, and Edgar Winter. Unfortunately, Winter did not play that evening - I believe it was Covid related as a week or so later, the remaining shows were postponed with both Lukather and Winter having Covid.

You're going to have a blast. For me, the Ringo/Beatles highlights were Yellow Submarine, Photograph (my absolute favorite Ringo song) and Back Off Boogaloo. Hay, Lukather and Stuart were great as well. I could go on and on, but I digress. ;)

I think both Photograph and Back off Boogaloo were largely George songs. Ringo probably had some kernel of an idea that George hammered into shape. I am looking forward to the solos on Back Off Boogaloo and It Don’t Come Easy which were played by George. Also I’m the Greatest if he plays that

I quit facebook 6 years ago but got back on for birding groups. Started marketplace with the upcoming move (378 items listed lmao) and I swear, these people are just mindnumblingly dumb
Bold of you to assume most users on Facebook are flesh-and-blood human beings at this point. Your average big page posts AI generated images and the "users" are just bots boosting engagement. I'd ask how the hell that makes advertisers happy, but they seem to be OK with it, presumably because they're also extremely fond of the bad-for-humanity potential of AI. At this point, it's only handy for marketplace and local Buy Nothing groups. I haven't even done pickups for the latter groups lately, we're actually giving away stuff to a local aid group.
All of social media has gotten progressively dumber.
Australia had the right idea banning it for kids under 16, although the ideal solution would be "make sure that parents actually do their damn job." But that's a hell of an ask. Parents are also stupid and lazy. The only screen time our kids get is at home. As long as they're under our roof, they won't be iPad babies.

My wife is not stupid or lazy. Don’t ask her about me.

Here's my interpretation of the mayfly species Ephemera guttulata...The Green Drake.

The belly of the real thing is a white with light green hue...so I tie the fly to match the belly (trouts view). It's more about the size and impression it leaves on the water than an "exact" match.

Not really...these will be fished on the surface. Movement is bad when dry fly fishing... I'm trying to get the most natural drift to the fish as possible.

So you cast upstream and let it naturally drift down to a feeding fish uninhibited. He's first going to see the wing profile sticking up as it drifts down...then as it gets closer the imprint of the legs, thorax and abdomen are the key factors.

What if the fish sees you? Will he get spooked?

Yes...they usually retreat to deep pools. Pressured fished just stopped rising for a period if you are waving your rod over their head, make a bad drift, spray water from your line or disturb them in any way. Dumb unpressured fish are easier and don't care as much.

But sometimes when the bug hatch is heavy and it's a feeding frenzy you can get away with a lot with even the most sophisticated fish.

I've had 100+ lbs tarpon spook because my cast and line went over their head. Kind of wild to see a giant fish spook over something so simple. I've also seen them spook from a bird like a pelican or a frigatebird over their head casting a shadow

They must've had some storms upstate NY the other night .The West Branch of the Delaware River went from 500 cubic feet per second to over 4000 cfs. That's crazy...and more storms are coming. Hope everyone is staying safe up there.

Fewer rain events with heavier rain per event in a shorter period of time ends in huge amounts of runoff and massive spikes in creek and river levels. I would guess it will come back down fairly quickly.
