OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

Feels nice to get back in the creek again.

I have a feeling that this month might be the last we have with the foster twins. There's one last bit of paperwork to be completed before they can go with family out of state. It'll be sad, but I'm also proud of what we did. They were our first placements and they've been in our lives (whether that's in our custody or nearby with family) for almost a year.

I think it will be a while before we take on twins again, though. It's quite hectic. But we are fine with taking a second child along with the one we currently have. Apparently, my wife and I have a good reputation in the agency and I'm sure we'll be kept in mind when they have an opening we can accommodate.

No way in the world would I be able to do that...say good bye that is. I can either invest myself fully and completely or not at all. That would break me

I don't know how you can handle that?

I think that knowing it's coming soon- if indefinitely- is helping me steel myself. That was how I dealt with my dad in the last few months of his life. When you make your peace before it happens, it becomes easier to swallow. Not to mention, one of us has to be strong, because my wife is gonna be a wreck for a few days.

I know where you can get three more to foster. I have it on good authority the father would be open to permanent placement if his wife doesn’t kill him

I give you major kudos for doing all of this. Do you get to get updates in the future on how the kids are doing or is that not allowed / depends on the family that takes them in?

So we got tickets to see Ringo in Tuscaloosa in June. We’ve never seen him live before so this should be fun. In addition to me and their wife we will have our middle and youngest with us and our middle son’s girlfriend. Really excited. For the youngest one it’s a likely cap on his classic rock experiences with the possible exception of Robert Plant and David Byrne if he wants to see them. Someday he will be in a very small club that has seen a bunch of these acts long after most of the audience is dead and buried.

I'm so bored I've resorted to tying flies on safety pins.

i passed a few hours doing this to a couple of single seater cast irons someone left on the curb. a bit more to go, not going to repaint them the green tinge looks nice. just wood bettering

cant tell in photo that one cannot acually sitt on them in the condition. every nut and bolt was way loose.

Wow...those are the same wood slats before and after? Did you have to strip them?

so now i have an outdoor shaded area on the north side of the woodshop to do things. photo in evening ...gets nice a sunset

That looks fantastic. You should think about buying a cheap old rundown collector car and restoring it. It woukd scratch your itch and you could make good money depending upon what car you chose.

thanks but its pretty low on the skill level....anyone can strip wood and stain it.

as for the car thing, my cousin did that... he put like 80 or 90K into an old car from the 50s and it worth more now

for me it seems like too big of a project for time...i know something like that would take me forever as i'm all over the place with doing different things ....i still havent started that acoustic guitar i talked about building over a year ago too
