OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

Take it easy there lobsterback, Agincourt was a long time ago.
Pluck Yew!

It's been debunked but nonetheless a great story.

The "pluck yew" legend, a supposed origin story for the middle finger gesture, claims that English soldiers at the Battle of Agincourt mocked the French by waving their middle fingers, saying "See, we can still pluck yew," after the French threatened to cut off captured archers' fingers.

I had heard that story but about the English variant with the two fingers pointed at an antagonist since the archers used those two fingers to draw the bows.

In Western/European style shooting it's typically three fingers. One above the arrow and two below.

If you removed the middle finger it would be virtually impossible to hold the weight of an an English war bow.

With the cost of things needlessly high, I’ve discovered that local ethnic food joints are very reasonably priced. I live near a Caribbean neighborhood in Brooklyn and the bakeries there are much cheaper than you would see at a regular coffee shop. I took the foster twins to see their parents further out in Queens yesterday, which involves taking the train out to the end before getting on a bus. In between that, I stopped in at a Caribbean place where there were a bunch of men drinking beer and watching cricket. I got this curry chicken roti to go there, at a mere $10.

For NYC, I’ve also heard that Elmhurst in Queens is very good for this. It’s a large Chinese and Hispanic population so no shortage of small spots to hit up.

What you are doing is so selfless. You have my admiration.

This is the very reason my wife and I have such a difficult time with moving.... obviously we don't have the amount of choices that you have in Queens or Brooklyn but the amount of diversity we have as far as restaurants and food within a 5/10 mile radius is pretty plentiful. Especially various Asian cuisines.

It was years ago, it might be different now, but I was talking to a friend about food shopping in Idaho...they live just outside the Western entrance of Yellowstone NP. They have to drive 2 hours to Bozeman MT to get to a Costco...4+ hour round trip, not counting shopping . They need to bring ice and coolers for anything frozen they buy so it doesn't melt before they get home... Indian food? Chinese, Mexican or Korean? Only if you drive 2 hours North or South to either Bozeman or Jackson Hole, even then it's going to be limited...same thing for an airport...and even then, those airports are most likely only to get you to Salt Lake City or Denver where you have to take another flight to your final destination.

And let's not even talk about hospitals...if you need quick medical attention 2+ hours from a major hospital... praying is your best option.

just finished this fixup project. my old traynor mark 3 amp. covering was nasty, mold took over from decades of existence. i picked this up about 25 years ago from a friend's clueless weed dealer for 70 bucks. i didnt give a f*** about telling the it was worth way more (dont know if he knew or not or if he cared). another part of the story is i knew peter traynor who started his own amp company. he lived on the next road about 4 miles away...

check out the video (episode 3) in the link where he throws one of his amps off a roof....and it works afterwards

@NJDevs26 @Richer's Ghost @JK3 You guys getting the "unexpected database error" message when trying to navigate the site, too?

Honestly, if this site ever finally shutdown... My connection to the "old internet" will be dead.

Browsed these boards from around early 2006 and signed up in early 2007. The world, and the internet, has changed so much since then.

Message boards are the last bastion of that bygone era. This is the only one that I have continued to use since the mid-2000's.
