Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The sun is shining bright this morning. The forsythias just popped in my neck of the woods showing their beautiful yellow buds marking the start of spring along the robins singing its arrival.

It's time to get outside now.

What mess? Did I miss something?

Everyone, every generation and person with any stake no matter the age always thinks the world is going to hell... it's not. Things have always been chaotic with "big issues" facing us... It's a constant state of affairs.

I personally think it's more of a side effect of self importance... thinking my issues or these issues right now are the biggest issues ever... they're not.

It goes on...always will.

There is no doubt, in my opinion, that this plays a huge role here. However, to some extent, I don't think that's a bad thing. Apathy, or purposeful ignorance, is exceptionally dangerous.

Situations like the current one shouldn't consume your life. And I agree with the sentiment above that we need to do the best we can everyday and be happy that our situation really isn't that bad right now. And get outside, breath the air, do some hiking and fishing. Don't stress 24/7. Get off social media, etc.

But don't ignore what's going on completely, and don't assume it will "all be fine". There are countless examples through history of what this leads to if left unchecked. This country is not immune to it just because it hasn't happened here yet.

Speak for yourself. It's chilly in NYC. But damn if I'm not looking forward to warm weather, picnics, and so on.

Basically, keep watching your back. There is something to be said about unplugging but you have to strike a balance, as hard as it can be.

I'd like to thank the academy for this trophy. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to do this. Thank you! I love you all. Mwah! 😘

It's not apathy at all...I just don't think the things you are saying have deep roots in reality. From my perspective, your post and previous one as well is way overdramatic.

Fair enough :) We can respectfully agree to disagree. I will say I sure do hope you are right and I am being overdramatic!

much ado about nothing...meh.... no point in trying more another time. i think i may be one of these people. Why Don't Edibles Work for Me?

oh well, i'll stick to burnin'
Edibles are kind of hit-or-miss in quality. But when the wife and I partake, it's our only option, because her lungs are no good. Plus, you have to go outside to smoke, it stinks, and I don't like giving kisses after smoking.

With foster kids in the home, the times we've been able to have edibles have been very few and far between. Last time was our anniversary earlier this month. One of the kids is looking like she'll be here for a bit, but if it's just her, it'll be easier for one of us to take a break.

I'm not sure that we necessarily disagree on anything? I suppose the importance and magnitude of the topics is seen differently... but again, I don't know if that is necessarily "disagreement".

I think letting the gas tank get to "E" is a major lapse and a great cause for anxiety....my wife thinks it's no big deal because there is a gas station everywhere in New Jersey. I find it irresponsible, she doesn't.

I don't know if that is disagreement?

it was from a legal ontario dispensary and i've tried a few different companies over the while. it just doesn't do it for me.

hmm, perhaps i should up the dosage to say....300? just to make sure, of course ;)

(naw, cant be bothered to try)

I like to let the tank get low so I feel something

Haha semantics I suppose. I'll just leave it at respect for your opinion :)

I always let the tank go waaaaay past the yellow light (40 miles left), even when that shit says low fuel, it's a lie. Modern electric (not mechanical) fuel pumps that reside within your gas tank sit within a separate reservoir with gallons of gas at it's disposal so it doesn't overheat. There are insane redundancies that prevent the modern Pejorative Slur from running out of gas so don't worry about it.

I'm insane so if it's my car or boat (the boat is waaaaaay worse), more gas equals heavy, heavy equals poor fuel mileage and perpormance so I only fill my tank to 1/2 unless on a long trip. Hurricanes, power outages, the Apocalypse, sure, fill up.

I once drove about 40 miles with the low fuel light on in my 2010 Rav4. I then filled up and calculated that I still had about 1.6 gallons left, and that was at least 40 miles after the low fuel light came on. That was 40 miles of highway driving, not city. And without any stops.

Assuming I used about 1.5 gallons or so for the 40 miles while the light was on, I'd say that light came on with about 3 or so gallons remaining.

I try not to let it go too low because it isn't good for your fuel pump long term and overheats it, but you also have more gas left than you probably think you do once the light goes on.

I can't handle running with the fuel light on...it brothers me so much....it never happens in my vehicle. My wife's car it seems to always be on. Hers comes on with 60 miles to go. It counts down in the speedometer display.

and if we go somewhere planned and she has to get gas in the morning I'm pissed all day.

Ok we're going fishing, leaving the house 5:00am... "I have to get gas first..."

"Why didn't you do it yesterday? "

"We'll just stop along the way"

I make sure everything is packed and put in the car, all the equipment and tackle is clean, full and ready to go...all the flies we need are tied, organized and put in labeled boxes...

And you couldn't get gas?

Quit my job this week. Moving to France in a few weeks / months??

Feeling like a million freaking bucks
repeat after me. Sacre bleu. Montmartre. Bonjour. Comment'allez vous. Voulez vous coucher avec moi c'est soire. La plume de ma tante. boulangerie. Fumer. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries.

This is all going to be critical for you once you move. Oh, and eating raw meat.

I'm jealous... I want to move so badly.

But my wife and I can't settle on a place...at least not a permanent place.

10 years ago we thought for sure it was going to be Wyoming. But we didn't want to deal with the winters ...the summers are incredible but it really only last for 2 months... early July the snow pack and mountain runoff are just finishing... can't fish during runoff... there's always small spring creeks but the big rivers are usually shot. Then the first snows return in the middle of September...crazy.

The Keys was a possibility...we even considered living in Mexico for a bit.

Maybe we'll figure it out...if not, we really like New Jersey. It's hard to live anywhere else once you get used to all the conveniences we have.
