Met the girl of my dreams, job of my dreams, couldn’t be happier with my hobbies and friends and social life.

And yet I have a very awful feeling about where life is heading for everyone. We are in uncharted waters right now and I don’t see us making it. IYKYK

I will leave it at that
I know it seems that way and you are likely right re: many aspects of the present and the future. But with my first kid on the way and thinking hard about similar things, I've come to the conclusion that the only option in the face of stuff you don't control is making sure that your life, your work and how you treat people are their own examples of what's worthwhile, a counter balance to the things that seem like they're getting worse.

I know we aren't allowed to talk about some things here but I don't think what I'm saying crosses that line but are you talking about general life or "worst case scenario" because "worst case scenario" is a world wide nuclear war and no matter how crazy everyone out there can be I think everyone realizes that this would be the literal end of the world period so I'm not as concerned about it happening.

In terms of regular life I feel like it's been bad for years in terms of being an adult because the things that I hate about living in this area happens no matter who is in charge. Parkway and Turnpike tolls always go up, the Port Authority always raises bridge tolls, the MTA always raises tolls, our property taxes keep going up, our utility bills keep going up, our groceries costs seems to keep going up, college costs are insane, new car prices, housing costs, all insane.

In general everything is too damn expensive and every time I think there should be a bubble that finally bursts shit keeps going up and up but then again every time I go to a Devils game I always feel like I'm one of the few there who can somehow sit there for 2.5-3 hours without spending a dollar on insanely priced garbage concessions and I feel like most people just accept everything for what it is and just pay it anyway when we all should be just not spending any money for an entire month of home games to show the owners this is bullshit.

In terms of everything else I'm not saying to stick your head in the sand but you're absolutely better off limiting the days you read stuff, especially since you seem to clearly have it affecting your mood. So only check on stuff every 4 days or so and you'll be better off. Being habitually online, especially in the realm of things that you're reading isn't good for anyone.

That being said, we'll all be fine, we'll just all be spending more and more money because some dirt bag CEO and their dog shit board isn't happy only making x amount of money every year and because they want to be greedy f***s instead of making a decent amount of money and still helping out their consumers. Just like our Devils owners and entire front office like Jake Reynolds and his stupid f***ing sneakers.

I know it's hard, but don't sweat the things you can't control. Take comfort in what you've got- your life seems to be going very well. Take it one day at a time, and stay off the social media sites and news apps. I barely look at my Bluesky timeline and just post from my page.

I've had my idealism beaten down pretty hard over the last few years but I've learned to not let the events of my city, my country, and the world ruin my life. It's especially gotten easier to focus on my own little corner with foster parenting. There's no feeling like the faces of kids lighting up when you get home. It may take you a while, and frankly it would have been easier to prepare yourself for a couple of years before now. But if you've got your life in order it gets that much easier- you've got people to talk to.

Speaking of fostering, we've now got three kids under 2 in our care. The baby that was with us was sent back. Good thing my one-bedroom is the size of most 2BRs in NYC.

well, we all know that to live in this town you must be tough tough tough tough tough tough tough tough tough

to say nothing of the rats living on the west side or the bed bugs that are uptown.

All good advice and when I say not going to make it. I mean holding together as one entity. There’s no way it holds together at this current rate with the vast differences

But I digress now. Had another spectacular pizza. F St Social in Belmar

not their finest moment. a song that goes nowhere for much too long
I think that was their last album with any real inspiration. I have seen them multiple times since then and they are rock royalty but their music since then has really been rinse and repeat with thr possible exception of Tattoo You but I found that album sort of paint by numbers.

well then thanks, now it's settled....pizza night it is.

some more stones with some guy on bass

i think i've heard that riff somewhere else....

yeah, that riff is pretty much a straight lift. If the Stones were smart they would have moved heaven and earth to get Paul and Ringo to play on it and appear in the video and cross promote it as a Stones/Beatles track.
